...An interesting album of French music. The singer is from France and has been around for a long time. Some songs are better than others. I would recommend this album as an easy listening record. It's something you can relax to in the evening.

Advantages: Beautiful melodies, beautifully interpreted Disadvantages: Some might be put off by the fact it is in French

Françoise's husband and longtime companion Jacques Dutronc was involved in the composition of this song, which is about the way that at 20 we feel we are king of the world, and that love is going to last forever. The song feels like a slightly slowed down twist.

A touching song inspired by an old folk song, about the ephemeral quality of youth. (Can I see a theme appearing here?)

This is a song that allows me to have an idea of how the album might be received by a non French-speaking public. I don't understand Italian, yet I find myself captivated by Françoise Hardy's voice. I'm guessing the title means 'tell me about you'.

Advantages: Nice original look at punk and electronica Disadvantages: Slightly samey
...An odd name and only kind of French. Basically it's two French blokes (which is the French bit) who decided to remake a load of old punk classics, but with a twist... Nouvelle Vague means "New Wave" (in French) but also "Bossa Nova" (in brazillian portuguese) and well, that's the twist. Punk covers done bossa nova style... odd you think, but highly effective!
Now what's so great about two blokes singing punk classics in a weird way? Well they don't sing: in fact there are eight different female singers that take it in turns to take us on this twisted form of punk. Each of their voices adds a bit of sexiness to the mix, which is a bit odd hearing "Teenage Kicks" (originally by the Clash) sung in a sensual way is a good enough reason to buy the album on it's own, but there are in fact 13 brilliantly sung and produced songs.
