Having used Guerlain's Shalimar for a number of years already, I was surprised (and a bit shocked) when I received Champs-Elysees for Valentine's Day. As it turned out, it's a pretty fragrance that I do like to wear during the day. It has a flowery headnote, but also comes over with a "woody" touch. It contains mimosa leaf and mimosa flower, almond flower, rose petal, hibiscus seed and almond wood. It's not one of those strong floral fragrances that make you gasp for air when someone wearing it passes by you. It's more subtle than that and I find it quite pleasant and have gotten many compliments on it. ...

If not, at least you must have heard of the ChampsElysees. French people like to call it "The most beautiful avenue of the world". I am sorry to contradict them, but I have always wondered why. It is in fact quite ordinary.

It was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 in order to commemorate his victories, but wasn't finished until 1836. It is 50 meters tall and 45 meters wide.
