Advantages: Excellent backing tracks, competent vocals, a couple of strong pop hits Disadvantages: Not much in the way of soul, some dull tracks, all rather dated now
that ? cassette tapes weren?t cheap back then and we didn?t have a lot of money so we tended to record it one week and tape over it the next week, but you get the idea I am sure.
From this my love of pop music grew and to this day I still listen to pop songs from the 70s ? and the early 70s in particular ? as there is something I find very appealing about them and the overall musicality of them.
One group from this era was the Pearls ? who were basically two fairly nondescript looking female singers with fairly nondescript voices who turned up on "Top of the Pops" occasionally. "Top of the Pops" was as unmissable to me as the chart run down on Radio 1 was.
At the time I took this group at face value ? to me they sang pop songs which were simple and similar in style to some of the girl group songs of the 60s that I occasionally heard ...
Advantages: New and different, multiplayer, drums Disadvantages: can be embaressing, no online band world tour
Guitar Hero 3 and arguably Guitar Hero 2. This therefore opens it out to a wider audience and stops you wanting to throw the guitar out of the window or at the screen when you fail a song 95% through.
The drums are obviously new to all gamers. They are basic and do make you feel as if you are playing a real to life drum kit therefore making it a must have. I don't play drums myself but my brother does and he says "they are incredibly realistic consindering how basic they appear". In my opinion starting on easy they are a good way to pick up a few basic drum techniques and are certainly enjoyable.
The singing is also good. You don't have to sing perfectly to get through you can sin badly as I do at ear piercing tones and laugh about it at the same time. Making it even more fun.
The games graphics aren't the best but obviously they don ...
Advantages: A Few Of Good Tracks Disadvantages: Nowhere Near The Same Degree Of Quality As Their Earlier Work
Much has been said of this record in terms of whether or not The Band really wanted to make it, most putting it down as simply a way of getting out of a contract with Capitol, so that The Last Waltz, their grand finale, could be released by Warner Brothers. Thus for most they would assume that this album did not get off to the best of starts and was doomed to linger at the back of their catalogue, and in a sense this is not to far from the truth as it is definitely not their best work, but it still contains a smattering of tracks that I am glad to own a piece of.
The album in truth is made up of a collection of B-sides and outtakes, with a couple of covers and a few new tracks, but this makes for an interesting listen, that far from being entirely cohesive is still a rewarding listen. Even though the lyrics and the instrumentation never ...
