...and the songs are therefore quite melancholic and subdued, but this is characteristic of Gregorian chant and an inexorable style of chant.
I would recommend this CD to be used as a meditative background sound or one to just listen to and be enveloped in, providing a great way to relax or even sleep.
It is possible to purchase for £10, however it has been sold for more. Prices may have even been reduced further now so it may be of greater value to purchase now....

...The Gregorian Chant is probably one of the finest types of choral singing ever. In the entire history of the whole world. That's just so as you know where I am coming from on this one!
The history of the Gregorian Chant is an old one. It dates back to at least to the time of Pope Gregory I or Gregory the Great as he was otherwise known. Gregory abandoned his life as an up -and-coming young Roman patrician, of whom great things were expected. But he became a monk, instead. After being ordained by the pope, he eventually became pope himself. He served as pope between 590 to 604.
Pope Gregory worked hard to formalise and bring togther the varied types of church singing as part of the Mass. And the result of his work was the Gregorian Chant.
The Gregorian Chant is far from a dead form of choral music. Far from it...

Advantages: Very spiritual atmosphere with perfect vocals, chorus and flute. Disadvantages: Track 7 which feel odd to the others

He has shown his knowledge and talents in composed the spiritual melodies, beside that, he also played as a vocals and show his another marvellous talent in flute solo.
Incantation is voted as a best new age album of 1999 in New Age Voice Magazine. "Incantation is an exploration of my inner journey to a place of open-heartedness" Tim says.
Tim has done a perfect job in his flute solo and vocals, almost all tracks with a harmonic chorus and female soprano vocals perfectly boost up a very spiritual atmosphere of the music. Some tracks add in a bit of oriental element.
