Advantages: easy to listen to full album without skipping tracks Disadvantages: It's only 45mins long, you have to put it on repeat a lot.
...So called chaos is what I like to call "the Alanis I know". I am a huge Alanis Morissette fan - but I am quite objective about her as I think she has had a few bum tunes out in the past. So fear no longer - I shall not be doing any unjustified bum licking. 'So Called Chaos' doesn't exactly break any ground musically but typically it offers the Alanis trademark, quirks, warbles and awesome melodies. The thing I love about this artist is that she's not afraid to grow and develop and mature throughout the years, constantly re-inventing herself and she uses her own experiences as a vessel to create art (music) - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. I like to take the good and the bad. It makes you appreciate the good more because when she's on form she is utterly there. Anyway, enough kooky thoughts for now.
So the album was released...

Advantages: This is a fantastic album! Disadvantages: Nothing at all!
...Ok here it is the 2001 release 'From Chaos'. This album (on the Billboard Top 200 Sales Chart) debuted at number 10! It's now 'GOLD'.
Track One - You Get Worked
'
Cool track, a good head-banger in parts, it's something you can really get your teeth into! Listen and enjoy!
Track Two - Sick Tight

This is a weak-link in the album, I mean I like it, but it's alot like their old stuff. This is a 'skipper' with me.
Track Three - You Wouldn't Believe
This track reached number 7 on the Billboard Modern Rock Chart. It's a GREAT song and a cool video. You can see through this song how far 311...

Advantages: MacGregor's chameleon-like arrangements render every piece interesting, appealing. Disadvantages: She remains in obscurity in the US.
...more than the usual quota of musical ornamentation in the piece, too, which is no cause for complaint at all—I actually love its frilly character.

I listen to Ligeti's etude by MacGregor and feelings of appreciation, even liking, are stirred by her rendition of Ligeti's Automne a Varsovie / Autumn in Warsaw! Its mutating chromatic chords and wild rhythms draw me inexorably into the vortex of the music, escalating to an exhilarating climax and concluding in a kind of controlled chaos.
Some might dismiss Incarnation II by Somei Satoh (b. 1947) as nothing more than New Age music. Wrong! Lot of deep notes way, way down on the piano's bass register ripple...
