Chapter Two - Roberta Flack

Advantages: heavy tunes
Disadvantages: feeling older than what you actually are

...I have always liked a couple of Roberta Flack tunes and thought she is a great performer and when i saw this album advertised on tv, i couldnt believe it! Obviously you only hear a few of the tunes, but what i heard really made me want to go out and buy this one. It has some lovely ballads and i always find that with a lot of older tunes, they can really get to you and make you feel funny . Now this probably sounds really sad coming from a 23 year old but i couldnt care less. This is going to be the next album i purchase and i have no qualms blasting her tunes out and for once the neighbours probably wont moan about the noise as it is from their era and they will love it!!! Advantages: a great voice and talent, some really good songs, lyrics are provided
Disadvantages: the good songs are outnumbered by the bad

...and has "Murder Inc" stamped all over it. While it worked on the last album, I think she should have opened up to outside influences a bit more on this one. Finally, the skits. I DO NOT see the point of skits on albums - does ANYONE??? And there are FOUR on this album. FOUR. Why? CONCLUSION To be honest, I was going to give this album a worse rating originally but when I listened to it again I realised I liked more songs on it than I had originally realised. So I will give it three stars rather than the two I had originally intended. I also plan to purchase her follow-up "Concrete Rose" because I LOVE the first single off that, and also LucieS1984 gave it a very good review which encouraged me to do so (so if it's rubbish, I can blame YOU, Lucie!!!). Advantages: All hits from beginning to end.
Disadvantages: Only new song is Drowning.

...From We've Got It Goin' On to the latest offering, Drowning - all the hits are on this album. This latest offering from the world's biggest boyband is a winner for any pop fan this Christmas. Tracks from Swedish producers Max Martin and the late Denniz Pop (also used by Britney and *NSYNC) feature heavily on this album, the 5th from the boys. Biggest hit here is the fans' favourite - I Want It That Way, #1 back in 1999. If you want a ballad you have Show Me The Meaning, I'll Never Break Your Heart, Anywhere For You. Fancy a bit of a dance around your room? Everybody, Get Down, Larger Than Life, The Call. Or something in between? Quit Playin' Games, The One. Let's hope they get that 'Chapter Two' album in the future.... Read review
