The Saturdays are a British Pop group consisting of five girls : Vanessa , Frankie , Rochelle , Mollie and Una. You may remember the pop band S Club Juniors (who then changed their name to S Club 8) ? Well , Frankie and Rochelle used to be members of that band when they were in their early teens. The group have been active since 2007 and even supported Girls Aloud on their Tangled Up tour this year. To date they have released two singles in the United Kingdom : "If This Is Love" reached number eight in the British single charts and their second single 'Up' reached number five in the charts.
Chasing Lights is the debut album from The Saturdays. It was released in the United Kingdom on 27th October 2008. The album comes under the pop , electro-pop and Dance-pop genres. There are twelve tracks on the album. The length of the album is forty two minutes and eight seconds. Chasing Lights reached number eleven in the British album charts.

If This Is Love * This song reminds me of a Girls Aloud song. I like the disco feel this song has ; it's very catchy. Although it is an upbeat song , it has quite a relaxing feel to it. A great song.
* Up * This is their current song and definitely one of my favourites on the album. This song is bursting with attitude and I like the 'dramatic' sound it has. It's very catchy ; especially the chorus. Their vocals are really good on this one especially Vanessa!
* Keep Her * When this song first started , I didn't think I was going to like it , but as it got going it grew on me. One criticism I have of this song is that it doesn't sound to clear , although I do like the 'choir' on the chorus. This song is quite powerful although it is quite receptive. It's ok but it's not one of my favourites.
* Issues * A great upbeat ballad. I love the tune. Some parts of it remind me of a Rihanna song while other parts remind me the Sugababes song Ugly. This is definitely one of my favourite songs on the CD. Their voices blend really well together. If this song was released as a single , I am sure it would reach number one.
* Lies * The verse is good but when it gets to the chorus it's just amazing. Once again their voices blend really well together. It's quite and upbeat song , yet it is quite a hard song to dance to because of it's unusual beats.
* Work * This will be the band's next single. This song is pure pop. I like how it starts off quite fast but it gets a lot faster on the chorus. It has quite a funky beat. I could imagine dancing to this in a nightclub. I like this song ,but I must admit it's not as strong as their two other singles.
* Chasing Lights * This is a good song to dance to and I also think this song would work really well as a single. This has a funky beat with a catchy chorus. The beginning of the chorus reminds me a bit of the chorus on 'I Kissed A Girl' by Kate Perry. A good song!
* Set Me Off * This song has a really funky beat and really shows off the girls voices. Another catchy and addictive song.
* Fall * This is a nice light song which makes a pleasant listen. It is nice song with. This is another of my favourite songs on the album. I think it would also make a great single.
* Vulnerable * This song is quite emotional to listen to. It doesn't really sound like any of the other songs on the album. It's still 'nice on the ear' though.
* Why Me Why Now * This song proves that all the girls can really sing. The background music to this song reminds me a bit of a Christmas song. I think it would make a great Christmas single. You can't help tapping your fingers when listening to this song.
* My Overall Opinion * Well , first of all I'd like to say "Look out Girls Aloud and the Sugababes!" These girls are amazing and they can ALL sing which really means something. They have definitely filled the gap that was missing in the music industry. Their style is very unique yet fits in really well with what's out there at the moment. They are a really talented group!
I feel I could listen to this album over and over again. The music is great and their voices are fantastic. My favourite singer out of the band is Vanessa , because her voice is so strong and powerful.
Although I like most of the songs on the album , my favourites are definitely 'Up' , 'If This Is Love' and Fall. I like how they have a unique sound , yet all their songs are different. I like how there's a mixture of 'dance tracks' as well as upbeat ballads.
I am really impressed with this album. The girls are now one of my favourite groups! I think that this album proves that they will have a very long and successful music career!
If you have a teenager this will definitely make a great stocking filler this Christmas.
