I have been a great fan of the musical 'Chicago' for years. When I heard the rumours that it was to be made into a film with Catherine Zeta-Jones playing Velma Kelley I was a little skeptical. Not because I felt she didnt have the acting abilities but I was unsure whether she had the singing voice.

How wrong I was.

I went to see the film on opening night and found the whole film a real treat. The musical numbers were cinematically breathtaking.
Catherine Zeta-Jones hit the audiences hard with her sexy, husky jazz club singer voice, I was in awe. Although Catherine being from Wales I guess I should have known
Renee Zellwegger is as equally good in her singing roles although I felt that her numbers did need a little oomph. I somehow felt she lacked the same sex appeal as Catherine.

A couple of days later I found myself in the record store handing over my hard earned cash for the soundtrack.
The Soundtrack contains all the big hits of the show such as 'All that Jazz' and 'Cell Block Tango'. Queen Latifa's version of 'When your good to Mama' was a merit to excellent casting.
There are a few extra tracks on the album by such people as Anastacia and they are songs that have been inspired by the musical. Personally I find these tracks a waste of time, they are no where near the standard of the score. I feel they should have been left out completely.

All in all I think all those jazz lovers and musical lovers should go out and but this, even if your not go out and give it a go. It has excellent track to brighten your day and keep you singing all the way to work.
