This CD album is one of my favourites out this year! I agree its been a bit over publicised but it really is much better then its many imitators. The sequel to it is even better, I think you have to listen to it a few times to really appreciate it. Its such a change for someone like me whose CD collection consists of hardhouse, house, trance, garage and any floorthumping music. I guess I like it because it's such a break from the norm.
Outstanding tracks on the first CD include '6 Underground' by the Sneaker Pimps, 'Clubbed to death' by Rob D (which is pumping!), 'Is It Too Late?' by World Party and 'Shoot You Down' by the Stone Roses. There's a track by Basement Jaxx that many will not have heard 'Being with u'. It is a great album to hear a range of bands that you wouldn't otherwise listen to. The only track I'm not sure about is Moby's 'Natural Blues' it doesn't seem to fit with the rest. I admit the mixing sounds a bit odd in places but many wouldn't even notice it.
It's not the typical Ministry Of Sound compilation at all, so if you are a MoS fan you may not like it. The second CD is definately my favourite. It kicks off with Jakatta and 'American Dream'. My favourite tune has to be 'King Of My Castle' by Wamdue Project. This track has had lots of remix's to it but this edit is brilliant, you must listen to it. 'William Orbit's 'Barber's adagio for strings' is the last track and finishes off this wonderful compilation.
This is the perfect CD to listen to post clubbing when your ears are ringing and you need something to sooth you to sleep. Its not distracting at all so it is very useful. Its great background music in other words. Although it's great to listen anytime really whether you're burning food in the kitchen, or trying to finish off an assignment two hours before handing in! (yes unfortunately I'm a student!) The perfect time to put this album on is when your relaxing in a long hot bath (think candles, pure pampering!). Listen to the sequel, it's even better!
