Personally, I used to be a great fan of dance CDs, so here I am going to try to give an unbias opinion of a good quality CD released by the Misinstry of Sound (2003).
At this point, you should be aware that the Ministry of Sound have not released a "Chill Out Moods" Style CD before, so - this is why you need to listen before you buy!
Here are the best tracks - take this review along to the music store!
CDisc 1
Fatboy Slim feat. Macy Gray – Demons Chicane – No Ordinary Morning Sneaker Pimps – 6 Underground Rob D – Clubbed to death Moby – Natural Blues Basement Jaxx – Being with you
CDisc 2
Jakatta – American Dream York – The Awakening Sasha & Emerson – Scorchio Underworld – Cups Wamdue Project – King of my castle Amber – Sexual Leftfield – Melt Energy 52 – Café Del Mar William Orbit – Barbers adagio for strings
There are a lot more tracks - but these are the ones to listen to before buying.
This collation is a laid back mix of blissful beats and chilled out house. You may like this album, if you really want SLOW music to dance to. I was familiar with a few of the artists and tracks that were on the leaf and I bought it because I was looking for something different to chill out to. Either after a night out; or for a night when the budget wouldn't stretch as far as the clubbing scene. The music played on the cd is just too slow to dance along to, maybe a bit too chilled and I just couldn’t get to grips with liking the first CD
There are a few tracks on the cd such as ‘rob d – clubbed to death’ that make an excellent track to play in the background of a lazy evening, or when your lying in bed with your eyes shut, other tracks such as ‘moby, sneaker pimps and york’ also stood out to me.
There are 2 discs that come with this chilled out cd. disc 1 which claims to be full of blissful beats and disc 2 which is supposed to be chilled out house.
Disc 2 was my favourite. Half the time on CD1 you couldn’t really tell if you were listening to electronic, dance or even classical music. it was all there, and that’s what seems to be the problem, its just not consistent. Disc 2 however, seems to be much, much better, but that’s just my tastes, however, it did take time to get used to!
so what’s the album good for? well you know those evenings where you come in and just want to relax? well, stick this on in the background, veg out on some food, have a cigarette and it will relax you, trouble is, you won’t want to get up again. it’s also perfect for listening to when your soaking in the tub, or even when you have come in from a big night out, theres nothing on tv and your not tired yet, you just want to relax; it’s perfect for those sort of occasions.
Unfortunately, I don't think this CD will be played too often in my house as there are much better CDs to chill out with.
Let's face it - The Ministry of Sound has a better reputation for clubbing...not vegging.
Overall, I liked it but I'm still looking for a dinner-background music cd that is not contemporary classical stuff.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Hi Neil. I do like Ministry of Sound and often borrow my son's CDs to listen to. He hasn't got this one, though. I think your review would definitely benefit from a bit more detail, if you could include it. What you've written is good, but I didn't really get more than a vague idea of what the tracks are like. You might want to check out Silverback's Shack review, which I consider excellent. Let me know if you decide to edit, leave a message in my GB and I'll happily have another look with a view to re-rating. All the best - Cate
