Advantages: The blinding track "Carnal Forge", the legibility of the songs and lyrics for newer listeners. Disadvantages: Hard to find any. Stunning release.
.... The musicianship is a high standard, the songs are heavy and catchy at the same time, and are written perfectly. Also the production is perfect throughout with everything as it should be, in the right places and cutting through to its full potential.
I personally prefer "Necroticism.." but this is yet another bookmark in the history of death metal and important releases amongst its pages.
If you have never heard Carcass, but like heavy music, then this is probably the best place to start, but progress to "Necroticism" and then to "Symphonies of Sickness"....

Advantages: heartwork is a great song; other good songs Disadvantages: bit samey after a while, no real standouts
...This album is the most successful release by Carcass, even if for their hardcore fans it wasn’t the favourite. This is carcass’ 4th studio album, released in 1993, taking a huge step away musically from their previous albums. Heartwork was the start of the end for Carcass, which is a shame as they were one of the most successful British bands underground in the early 90’s. This album is mainly made up of songs from the melodic metal genre, with hints of other genres too, and is much more accessible than previous efforts, hence why it was their most successful. I chose to review this album as I personally think it is their best one.
For fans of fast music, I would warn you not to expect any really fast solos here or really fast solos, there are fast bits but mostly this stays to a groove pace.

Advantages: Classic electro album, remastering adds a real boost Disadvantages: None
...Metamatic was the first solo outing from John Foxx after he split with Ultravox! Ultravox! went on to rather greater fame with the replacement lead singer, some Midge Ure guy but for Ultravox! fans, John Foxx was the real deal.
Metamatic deals with many themes and obsessions such as car crashes, Europe, relationships and too much J G Ballard and Philip K Dick which were bouncing around Foxx's head at the time as well as having elements of a story he was working on (and still is!). The lyrics are often full of grey cold imagery but all laced with an almost minimalist electro sound that was years ahead of it's time. It has to be said, he does also write some plain out and out baffling lyrics too - perhaps he uses the old Bowie 'cut up words' technique sometimes?
Unlike the previous CD release which was fine but sounded like...
