The first time I ever saw Chris Brown, I was watching the music channels on my TV. It was an average day and I saw a teenage boy dancing like crazy ina video. Intrigued to know what it was, I continued watching. I was automatically blown away by his dancing talent, and I was liking the beat from the song already. It sounded like a cool song, but I didn't know who it was, and it was ending. At the end of the video the information appeared on the screen: Chris Brown 'Run it!' Jive Records (Or something of the sort)
After seeing this, I went upstairs to my computer and downloaded the song to listen to. I loved it, and started downloading more songs. I loved all the songs I listened to, and then moved onto looking at pictures of him. He was cute too!
I guess it's right to say I'm a huge fan now. It took a while for his next single to be released in the UK (As always we get everything last!) By the time it did, I was already famillar of the song 'Yo (excuse me miss)' and had already watched the video online. I was still happy when other people got a chance to see and hear it however.
Well, that's more the story of how I heard about him. As far as the album goes, it didn't dissapoint me. I had heard most of the songs by the time I went and purchased the album but I loved it just as much as I would of if I hadn't. I listened to it constantly for the first month or so of purchase. (Much to the dissapointment of my stepsister who wanted to listen to Justin Timberlake!)
It's definately fair to say that the album tracks live up to the standards of the released singles. Songs such as 'Winner' and 'Young love' represent the fact that Chris Brown is still a young boy trying not to be too old for his age. These songs show that he's aware hes still young and he doesn't take things such as relationships too seriously. However, he gets the message across that he's not too young to understand what love is.
On the other hand, other songs such as 'Ya Man Ain't Me' and 'Just Fine' show the more serious side to Chris. In 'Ya Man Ain't Me' he speaks of a situation in which a girl is being mistreated by her man, and he can do so much more for her. Just fine shows another side where he is trying to explain that a girl can do better than him, and God will give her better opportunities. I guess you could say his album does have a Continuity error but I don't think this was the original intention.
Each song that Chris Brown has released has been a hit. The song 'Say goodbye' unfortunately wasn't released in the UK, but did well in the US as far as I know. Even the song 'Poppin' has been number 1 on download charts, and it hasn't even been released!
I think it's fair to say he's come a long way in such a short space of time, and at such a young age. Chris is now working on his second album.
Advantages: Nice voice. Acts his age. Disadvantages: Bland at times. Pointless remix.
Chris Brown serves up a fine album which bodes well despite the lack of similar tracks to his hit single "Run It!". Chris seems aware of his audience and never strays far from what a teenage girl would like to hear - which is probably its worst quality. From listening to it just once through you get the impression that Chris is around purely to make money. All the right moves are quickly put in place with the inlay design geared heavily to love-sick ... ...has seen a decline and Chris is one of many artists gaining ground and coming back strong. Although overshadowed by better singers and better production Chris gets it right more often than not. With the classic mix of smooth, slow and mid-tempo R&B gold you can hardly say it's not good. Yet good it may well be but excellent it certainly is not.
The album has problems. First of all the lyrics are bland at best. Yes we all know you like girls but ...

Advantages: Good variety of tracks, Reminds me of Usher in the early days! Disadvantages: I love this album although near the end it gets a bit boring!
...What I like is that Chris doesnt pretend to be grown, he sings about things on his level and so you wont sit there thinking what does this kid know about love!!! As the album continues he brings a lot of new flavours into the album and brings diversity to the album. My only criticism of this album is that they got the track order all wrong, all the released tracks are right at the beginning followed by a long list of slow tracks that after a while ... ...my advice is just to perservere, or try listening to the songs in a different order. The Run It remix is a quality track for all you Bow Wow fans out there and there is some good collabs with Top Producers. As I said before, he reminds me of a young Usher, If you liked Usher's early stuff like You Make me Wanna and My Way then you will like this and if you like this and havent heard his early stuff then I would definately listen as you'll enjoy it! ...

Advantages: Loveable and good songs Disadvantages: The album is very limited
I can't say it is hard to get confused when it comes to this youngsters album, as ChrisBrown released his debut album in late 2005, the album would appear with different versions and different covers (as highlighted by the wide variety of albums by the artist to review). All versions of the album went by the self-titled name of 'ChrisBrown' however the track amounts vary from 8 to 15. For the purposes of this review, I shall be reviewing the eight track version of the album. Welcome to ChrisBrown's world.
When ChrisBrown first burst on to the scene it would be with the single 'Run It', that is the first track on the album if you do not count the Intro (See The Light). Run It was an immediate success and truly was the song of the summer for 2005 and gave ChrisBrown the fanbase he so wanted. Chris was himself only 16 at this point ...
Advantages: Lots of big tunes Disadvantages: A couple of tracks let it down
ChrisBrown released his self-entitled debut album in 2005, and at the time blew up as a fresh face on the R&B scene as a 16-year-old child prodigy who was to take the R&B scene by storm as he churned out numerous hits in such a short time frame. The album sold big due to his Pop appeal and freshness.
1. ?Intro?
2. ?Run It?
This one was his breakthrough single, but I have to admit that this wasn?t the point where I started following him from as here, this song has him made out to basically any new Pop act on the scene performing what is a catchy song which would appeal to the teeny-boppers, and few others in addition to this. Not even the short appearance from Juelz Santana did it for me, and I saw it to be a fairly average song.
**Three Stars**
3. ?Yo?
The track listings appear to follow the ordering of the singles as this one ...
Advantages: great album, great voice, great vocals Disadvantages: None
I recall watching ChrisBrown's first music video 'Run It' and thinking Wow!! Ok, at the dancing..he has some really good moves, a very talented young man.
'Run It' is his debut single and is also on this album, his first - self titled 'ChrisBrown' and following this track are a number of other great tracks that include 'Yo (Excuse Miss)' which was also a hit and is one of my favourites, great lyrics, beat and sound... 'I don't know your name but Excuse me Miss...'
He has a great voice and great vocals with the ability to reach high notes and he shows great versatility with being able to do both fast upbeat tracks and slow ballads.
I have the full album that includes the slow tracks 'Say Goodbye' which balances out all the upbeat tracks rather nicely making this a great album and a good listen.
He has had more hits since ...

Album Notes
Debut album from fresh-faced 16-year-old US RnB sensation whose debut single 'Run It' topped the Billboard chart for weeks. Brown has been likened to Usher and Michael Jackson, and he sings themes of teen romance in a comparable smooth fashion over street-tough beats provided by the Underdogs, Dr. Dre and the ultra-hip Scott Storch. The album includes the aforementioned single, featuring a guest appearance from rapper Juelz Santana.
