Chris Brown was born in the small town of Tappahannock, Virginia. He says it was quite hard growing up to be noticed in such a small place, but at only 16 years old, he released his self titled debut album, 'Chris Brown.'
Now at 17, (18 on May 5th), he's living the dream after his album has sold over one million copies as of 2007. Winning himself awards, appearing on hit show 'The O.C' and having a lead role in dance movie, 'Stomp the yard' alongside Neyo, Columbus Short and Meagan Good.

The first time I ever saw Chris Brown, I was watching the music channels on my TV. It was an average day and I saw a teenage boy dancing like crazy ina video. Intrigued to know what it was, I continued watching. I was automatically blown away by his dancing talent, and I was liking the beat from the song already. It sounded like a cool song, but I didn't know who it was, and it was ending. At the end of the video the information appeared on the screen: Chris Brown 'Run it!' Jive Records (Or something of the sort)
After seeing this, I went upstairs to my computer and downloaded the song to listen to. I loved it, and started downloading more songs. I loved all the songs I listened to, and then moved onto looking at pictures of him. He was cute too!
I guess it's right to say I'm a huge fan now. It took a while for his next single to be released in the UK (As always we get everything last!) By the time it did, I was already famillar of the song 'Yo (excuse me miss)' and had already watched the video online. I was still happy when other people got a chance to see and hear it however.
Well, that's more the story of how I heard about him. As far as the album goes, it didn't dissapoint me. I had heard most of the songs by the time I went and purchased the album but I loved it just as much as I would of if I hadn't. I listened to it constantly for the first month or so of purchase. (Much to the dissapointment of my stepsister who wanted to listen to Justin Timberlake!)
It's definately fair to say that the album tracks live up to the standards of the released singles. Songs such as 'Winner' and 'Young love' represent the fact that Chris Brown is still a young boy trying not to be too old for his age. These songs show that he's aware hes still young and he doesn't take things such as relationships too seriously. However, he gets the message across that he's not too young to understand what love is.
On the other hand, other songs such as 'Ya Man Ain't Me' and 'Just Fine' show the more serious side to Chris. In 'Ya Man Ain't Me' he speaks of a situation in which a girl is being mistreated by her man, and he can do so much more for her. Just fine shows another side where he is trying to explain that a girl can do better than him, and God will give her better opportunities. I guess you could say his album does have a Continuity error but I don't think this was the original intention.
Each song that Chris Brown has released has been a hit. The song 'Say goodbye' unfortunately wasn't released in the UK, but did well in the US as far as I know. Even the song 'Poppin' has been number 1 on download charts, and it hasn't even been released!
I think it's fair to say he's come a long way in such a short space of time, and at such a young age. Chris is now working on his second album.

Advantages: Good variety of tracks, Reminds me of Usher in the early days! Disadvantages: I love this album although near the end it gets a bit boring!
