...30 years ago Smokie had their first big hit "If You Think You Know How To Love Me" and since then have lived the rollercoaster ride thats part of being in a famous band.They've had their ups and a lot of downs and are still making it to the top of the Charts across Europe and Scandinavia despite losing their original lead vocalist Chris Norman,They re-formed a few years later to help drive a benefit concert for the families of the victims of the Bradford City Football Club Fire Disaster in 1986. ...I was prompted to shake the dust off a neglected corner of my record collection by a review posted by Nar recently. "The True Legacy of a Legendary Musical Divorce?" is about the Album "Legacy, a Tribute to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours" - a CD of cover versions of the songs from the classic Mac album 'Rumours' released in 1977. Nar also said that he was '…forever on the look out for new versions and covers of songs by leading artists known and unknown.'. For completeness then, here is one for his collection and maybe one which may have escaped your attention the first time around. ...Michael Jackson (Junior) attempts to continue to thrill with his second album. Comparing anyone to a musical talent the size of Michael Jackson is a huge feat to live up to, and whilst Chris Brown has repeatedly attempted to pay tribute to his idol - most noticeably with a World Music Awards performance impersonating that of Jacko's well-known 'Thriller' - the rising star himself still struggles to earn any kind of stature in the UK market. As always however there is a motive behind this review, and it's not to brainwash you all into submission that Chris Brown should be able to top our charts. My motive comes more to the recent breaking news of the 18 year-olds relationship with an umbrella salesmans favourite person, Rihanna, who is sitting pretty at two years Brown's senior as a global icon.
