...album, full of recognisable tunes. Christina has a voice of an angel and truly is talented. She definitly beats the other pop princesses such as Britney Spears. If you want a more mature selection of songs, choose this. This debut album may not be brilliant sompared to her second album "Stripped", but this is worth getting for the singles she has released. Here are the tracks: 1) Genie in a bottle: This is the very first single Christina released ...
...knows or has heard of. Christina was compared to Britney Spears at the time, and this song shows that she could sing and produce songs that were so much better than Britney. This song has a dance and R'n'B feel to it and this is the best song throughtout the album. 2) What a girl wants: This was released as a single, and when you hear this song, you will know why. With her single 'Genie in a bottle', it took me a few listens to like it, but when 'What a girl want' came out, I was dying of curiosity. This is a wonderful CD ehich is well worth the £12.99 I payed for it. It contains hits such as Genie In A Bottle, What A Girl Wants and I Turn To You. It also has her forthcoming single So Emotional on it. The lyrics are included in the inset alongside some pictures of the artist. With a strong vocal tone and ambition Christina Aguilera really hits the high notes (and the low notes) in song such as "Obvious" "Reflection" and "I Turn To You" Her vocal range is extraordinary ! Catchy dancey songs include "Come On Over" and "Genie In A Bottle" while the songs which capture the emotion are most certainly "So Emotional" and "Somebodys Somebody" This is Christinas first "Famous" album which saw her hit the big time. ...This CD was released in 1999 when the pop phenomenon just blew up. Britney, Jessica, N'sync, Mandy Moore etc all came onto the scene but in my opinion it was Christina who blew me. Her voice is so amazing, and for a young artist she has a strong woman like voice. Britney and Jessica all sing in a simple basic note whereas Christina goes from High to Low with an amazing result. This album was one of my favourite CD's and i still play it today to realise how far along Christina has come. Since this album she has grown lyrically as an artist and a performer. Her stripped album was outstanding, she pushed the boundaried and tried new things. Now back to Basics she has gone all jazz and blues on us. In my opinion she is our generations version of Madonna, because she is constantly changing her sounds. But this was the album where... Read review

...Christina Aguilera appeared on the scene in 1999 when she released her debut album, 'Christina Aguilera'. Since then she has had worldwide success releasing three other studio albums, 'Mi Reflejo' which was a latin pop album, 'Stripped' and 'Back to Basics' which is her most recent album. Her music is mainly pop/soul and r'n'b although her recent album has had hints of jazz music as well. She is a diverse artist and one of my favourite singers. In 2000, following her first album, she released a Christmas album called 'My Kind Of Christmas'. Although it is now 7 years old, I only bought this last year...it was £5 in Virgin, bargain!
