won't find too many shopworn carols on this swinging holiday set. Instead, Buck and the boys do their best to deliver the spirit of a good old-fashioned dust-bowl Christmas, complete with Western gear ("Santa's Gonna Come in a Stage Coach") and working-class sentiment ("Santa Looked a Lot like Daddy (Daddy Looked a Lot like Him)"). There's a good deal of melancholy running through songs like "Blue Christmas Tree" and "Christmas Ain't Christmas"--after a few listens, you get the idea that Buck's holiday "dinner" will be a few beers drunk alone at the honky-tonk down the road. It might not be the most cheerful album of the season, butChristmas with Buck Owensmay just be the one most likely to stay lodged in your heart.--David Sprague

...Mark Owen is the small, sexy one from Take That... in my opinion of course haha. This is Mark Owens' first album after the split of Take That in 1996 which shows there is so much more to him than the typical boy band label he was given. He wrote most, if not all, of the songs on the album with great catchy dance type tunes and a couple of slower ballad type tunes. His vocals are just amazing and perfect. Clementine is my particular favourite because it is really catchy, especially the chorus. It is the type of song that stays in your head. Although the album did not do as good as Robbie Williams albums, it was still a hit. It is good to listen to whatever mood you are in and it will chill you out and make you feel happy. I love this album just because there is something about it that just gives you a warm feeling inside. I would highly...

Advantages: Good played loud, very catchy Disadvantages: You've got to like hip hop
...Buck 65 - his mum knows him as young Richard and Wikipedia speculates that a promoter mis-spelled his original stage name, intended as Buick 65 - is a hip hop artiste from Nova Scotia. His earlier albums struck me as having something but they were just too underground. A bit home-made.
This new album is, on the other hand, ace. Last week I drove drown the UK and track nine "Cop shades" kept me awake on the M40. It has a bass line so solid you could land a plane on it.
Situation sees Buck 65 go back to basic hip hop: huge bass lines and beats, over which Buck delivers his clever, witty and poetic lyrics. The album is apparently about events in 1957, as discussed in track two.
On the internet, there's a lot of weighty discussion about the meaning of the album. 1957 was the year the Beat Generation emerged with "On the road...

...but still a good tune.
BABY I'M NO GOOD a more soulful tune, slow a bit to slow, one of the tunes i wasnt to keen on,
HEAD IN THE CLOUDS is another i wasnt keen, CLOSE TO THE EDGE pretty good another love song,
KILL WITH YOUR SMILE like this one has really good tune a bit different,
PIECES OF HEAVEN like the way this song sounds, plus like that you can actually understand what he is singing,
TURN THE LIGHT ON really enjoyed this track, good beat.
Think you would have to be a mark owen fan to appreciate these tunes but think once you have a listen you will enjoy. His last album had a more hippy style whilst this one is more pop and fun, taking him back to the great TAKE THAT days.Well worth a listen, great to have amongst your cd collection. If your a mark owen fan you will love this album, give it a try....
