Advantages: Another great CD from George Strait Disadvantages: Not enough tracks
...This is yet another great album from GeorgeStrait. The CD has ten tracks which after playing a couple of times you will find yourself singing along to.
The opening track - 'She'll leave you with a smile' is a good lead in which is followed by the thought provoking 'Run'. The title track 'The Road Less Traveled', again, a powerful song with wonderful lyrics and melodies and sung equally so. GeorgeStrait manages to skillfully incorporate a wide range of musical styles from the more traditional country through to a more rock, pop, R&B and honky tonk influence without losing its overall country feel. Advantages: Great country and western music Disadvantages: None
...Recently I wrote a review explaining how my interest in country and western music was kindled by the songs of Garth Brooks, well I’ve bought one or two more C.D’s of the same genre since then. One of my gripes about the music of this type is because in Britain, it is a relatively small but very loyal market, seldom do I seem to find country and western music at sale prices and £15 seems expensive to splash out on the off chance that it may appeal to me. However I did find GeorgeStrait’s ‘One step at a time’ (incidentally Garth mentions him in the song ‘Aint going down til the sun comes up‘) for about a fiver so I thought I’d take a chance. I had heard of George, new he was massive in America, but couldn’t recall ever having heard any of his songs.
Facts about GeorgeStrait I have found out in the mean time.
Given Name: George...

Advantages: This is them at their most raw Disadvantages: Might not like the feel of that

It certainly put a bounce in the step. Enthralled by this new sound that had been wrung out of a guitar, I dashed off the buy the album.
I wasn't disappointed then, although "Setting Me Up" has for some reason always grated on me, but looking back over their illustrious career I can now see that this isn't necessarily the best indicator of what was to come.
This is raw Dire Straits, and if this doesn’t sound too pretentious, this is them at their purest. As the albums flowed, they became masters in production...
