Advantages: great read, interesting hard to put down Disadvantages: coming to the end
I absolutely love reading autobiographies especially by people I idolise but sometimes its nice to read someones that you are not too familar with and you soon build up knowledge on that person.
Thats what I did on this occasion.
I have always liked CillaBlack, loved watching Blind Date and Surprise Surprise but too be honest thats all I knew about her.
After reading this fantastic autobiography I feel I know a lot more about her. The book gives a clear picture of what life she has lead, and in my opinion she is a very honest person with a great personality.
The book is called CILLABLACK, whats it all about?
Quite a large book with 396 pages but you will have it read in no time at all as its quite difficult to put down.
The book was first published in Great Britain in 2003 and she has dedicated the book to her late husband Bobby ...
Advantages: A good read, lots of information, showbiz anecdotes Disadvantages: 'lorra' and 'kinda' !
Being an avid reader of autobiographies, I have learned that the people who you admire the most, don’t always write the best books. I wouldn’t say I was a fan of CillaBlack, but I had read some great reviews of her book ‘What’s It All About?’ and wanted to see if I would enjoy it too.
I don’t dislike Cilla. In fact, I rather admire the ‘60s pop star Cilla and two of her songs – Anyone Who Had A Heart and You’re My World – are amongst my favourites. But I’m not a fan of Blind Date and, like most people, I became weary of too much Cilla on TV in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
After reading her autobiography though, I feel I have a good picture of her and can judge her more fairly now. Although she will never be my favourite TV personality, I do admire her for her ...
a millionaire before she knew herself.
And as I’ve already mentioned, the book has something many doesn’t – a message. Whilst others go on about how much they’re loved by everyone, how many fans, and money they have, Cilla guides us through her life, and answers the question – what’s it all about? That being also the title of one of her past songs, and her book, it’s quite a riveting question; and an even more riveting answer!
♦ From White to Black ♦
Born Priscilla White, brought up in one of Liverpool’s most poverty-stricken, catholic roads, and no past experience in singing – only on her kitchen table – Cilla didn’t sound the perfect person for a young ambitious manager to employ, but luckily Brian Epstein saw her true talent, and took her on.
After years ...
