I was driving through North Norfolk about five years ago and a track called "Redneck Woman" came on the radio. To hear such a funny song in such an appropriate location stuck in my head and I finally hunted down the album.
Gretchen Wilson is a bit like Dolly Parton without the sugar. Aside from the stand-out Redneck anthem she serves us with some excellent, feisty country music from the female (albeit the Christian-American-Redneck female) perspective.
Stand-out tracks - "When I think about Cheatin'" is a gorgeous love song with an adulterous counter-current, "Homewrecker" is a lovely bitch-on-bitch diatribe and of course the stompin' "Redneck Woman" which should become a staple of Hen Parties everywhere (and not just North Norfolk).
But my favourite is her ode to boozing called "When it Rains (I Pour)". ...

For those who want to know about the best loved comic in Peter Kaye (the man Phil Jupitus will never be) then this book may not be interesting enough to spend your well earnt on. Like the man himself it?s not a remotely celebrity or a parochial journey. At times it reads like his sketches as we learn about his life leading up to his first paid stand-up through those familiar stories and routines. him presents her with a real challenge. Of all the relationships in this film, Roger and Mary's is the one that I feel is fleshed out best - an argument they have in the middle of the film is one that you can tell has been building up for some time, and I get the impression that the audience is supposed to think that it's the first time since their son Simon's death that they've actually expressed their feelings. It's so believable it's actually hard to watch at times.
On quite the opposite end of the scale is Sarah (apparently a theatrical costume designer) and her partner of two weeks, the idiotic Brian (Tony Slattery) - there are few film characters that I've ever wanted to inflict actual harm on because they were so over-the-top but Brian is one. I still don't know if there was a missing scene that was cut which might have given Brian ...
