The Circus – Take That
Who are they – Take That are a band, made up of four guys from Manchester, Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Mark Owen. They first came out in the early 90’s and I have to say that I was a fan then and am still a fan now. I do think it’s funny when I see the kids now who have only known them as a new band and feel priveledged to know that I liked them first time around too.
Take That are now the most successful boyband to have reunited in history and are the best selling UK live pop act in history. I am not a crazed fan, I never cried when they broke up or never really had their t-shirts, posters on my wall etc but I do think they are a great, fun band. I saw them live about two years ago and I have to say it was one of the best concerts I have been to. They just looked like they were having a really great time, got on like great friends and were really entertaining the crowd.
Their newest album, The Circus was released on the 1st December 2008 and went straight to number 1 where it stayed for two weeks. A perfect time to release it, just before Christmas because I, like I’m sure millions of people, got it as a Christmas present. This album, in my opinion is another Take That classic, lots of great sing along pop tunes with a few anthems in there as well. There are some songs on there that also sound a bit Beatle-esque to me too, especially the song Hello, which is number three on the album. Their first single release from the album was Greatest Day. They released this on the 24th November and this also debuted at number one. A great anthem and probably going to be the song played at weddings now for a long time to come! The rest of the songs on the album are as follows:
1. The Garden 2. Greatest Day 3. Hello 4. Said It All 5. Julie 6. The Circus 7. How did it come to this 8. Up all night 9. What is Love 10. You 11. Hold up a light 12. Here
The cover of the CD is great. It features the boys walking a tightrope in keeping with the Circus theme and it actually mentions in the sleeve that they did some training at a Circus school to prepare for their tour.
The new single to be released from the album will be The Garden and this will be released on 2nd of March. Watch out for another straight to number one as this is one of my favourite tracks on the album, a little bit slower and with some really nice words.
