What l did not though is that Americans in general are not big boozers, in that in TGI Fridays for lunch one day l ordered a beer with my meal (and l got carded – for someone who is almost thirty l could have kissed the girl!) and l got looked at very strangely – l mean it was one beer and l was on holiday for goodness sake! So this was my trip to New York, l though when l started writing this review that we did not do nearly enough, but looking back we really did pack a lot into our short time in the city. Review of New York City

The city that never sleeps!!

Advantages: skyscrapers, shopping, theatres, restuarants, bars!!!!
Disadvantages: you get neck ache from constantly looking up!!!

I have just come back from a 2 night stay in the 'Big Apple'. Although it was my second visit, the city that never sleeps amazed me more than my first trip and i spent the two days constantly lloking up at the huge sky scrapers 'wowing!'. Everything about the place is amazing adn it feels like you are walking through a film set!! There is so much to see and do I dont know where to start. Our hotel was based on Lexington Avenue, a real central location oppsite Grand Central. This was our first site. At first I thought why do I want to look at a train station?? This is not like a normal station, theres everything from a gorgeous fish restuarant called the 'Oyster Bar' to Micheal Jordans American Diner. The Big Sleep

Advantages: (+) outstanding read (+) excellent and creative/unique plot (+) addictive
Disadvantages: (-) extremely confusing and difficult to keep track of (and to summarise in the review!)

the United States of America, predominantly the west coast area(s). The state used is California and the city is used for the whole of the book, namely Los Angeles. Another setting in the novel is a highly elaborate mansion. STYLE The Big Sleep is part of a series by Chandler. He primarily uses the 1st person in this book and with regards to dialogue, there is an equal amount of dialogue as there is description. There is quite an unusual form of death - perforation through the use of guns and bullets. There are two deaths in total throughout the novel. With regard to the accounts of torture and death, there are several moderately detailed references to death and punishment. Sexual references have also been made in this Chandler novel though it is solely descriptions of kissing. ...
