Advantages: Great songs - wonderful, popular tunes Disadvantages: A few songs aren't as good as the others
I recently bought this CD from amazon, costing £4.97 (which I thought wasn't too bad a price for a CD of anout 75 minutes of good, popular classicalmusic), because I thought it would be nice to have to listen to when I'm learning to drive in a few months time. When the CD arrived I put it on the shelf, intending to keep it until I'm learning to drive but the attractive cover was too attractive and so I just had to listen to it - and I'm glad I did. The CD is really good, with some absolutely wonderful songs like Gabriel's Oboe and Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini (18th movement), played by famous orchestras like the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra etc.
Tracks include:
1. Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 - first movement (07:12)
This famous piece of music is played by the North German Radio Symphony ...
Advantages: Several good shows; The Evening Concert; Classical music!!! Disadvantages: A flood of adverts; Simon Bates
I was surprised when browsing Ciao to note that there are only (currently) twelve ops on the radio station ClassicFM (101.1). Any regular listener will know that they?ve recently been telling us all how well they?re doing in the radio ratings, but are these results justified? Your very own Jaxle will now investigate.
Now, as maybe some readers know, I?m a very big fan of classicalmusic (see my op on classicalmusic) and yes, I must confess to being one of those who regularly listens to ClassicFM, and yes, I do indeed prefer it to Radio Three.
I?ll now run through the main programs that they broadcast with my opinions of each.
>> BREAKFAST <<
Unfortunately, this show is completely ruined by Simon Bates (see below). Plays the more popular classicalmusic and is excellent for news and traffic updates in the mornings ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Classic FM
Advantages: An Invite to dinner. Disadvantages: None, just a challenge.
I saw this challenge and could not resist it because there are many Ciaoers out there that I would like to meet in the flesh, and throwing a dinnerparty could be fun.
Of course, we need equal amounts of males and females, so let's make a start on the list of invitees.
JILL MURPHY- Jill makes me laugh online, and I think she would really be a party animal and great fun, with a good conversational flow.
THE MAD CABBIE - Ken is a good laugh, and I adore scottish accents, so I think he would make a super guest.
THE CHOCOLATE LADY - Now here we have a real poet. I think we would get on like a house on fire and I really believe that she would brighten up the conversation too, and could even supply the dessert.
LIZARD LOVER - Here we have a member who likes a laugh, so I guess that we would have fun and she's a sarcastic woman ...
