Classical (half way to) heaven

Advantages: amazing artists, amazing tracks
Disadvantages: Some really weird other tracks

Imagine bringing all the true classic greats onto one album; Vanessa Mae, Nigel Kennedy, Pavarotti, Leslie Garrett, Paul McCartney (no you didn't misread that last one) It should be the most phenominal album of all time, all these great names on 2 CDs, and in places it is, but there are some really odd, weird choices on this album that completely spoil it for me and in my opinion create an opportunity missed. ...truly great tracks here and the highlight for me is Vanessa Mae performing Bachs Toccata and Fugue in D minor (The piece associated with Dracula movies) This piece is usually played accompanied by a full traditional orchestra or there is a great arrangement for the organ. Just watch the world go by

Advantages: A definite easy listen
Disadvantages: Maybe too easy

This CD was probably a strange choice for me as i've never bought a classical album before, but i was attracted by the front cover ( i know never judge a book by its cover, but it was a CD) which seemed to depict everything i was looking for. Something i could just lie back, listen to and drift away into my own little dream world. Well it did exactly that. I drifted off to sleep after about track 6 and dint wake untill the CD had ended. This unfortunately ...
...but i soon listened to it again to get the full effect. It is definitely as described a very peaceful album. The music seems to lift you up and allow u to float above the world but i warn it does make u feel very drowsy. Whether id advise u to buy it or not depends on if ur into classical music. Although saying that i wudnt exactly say im 'into' it, i jus fancied a change. Its a good CD if u want to relax or for background music if u have sophisticated ...

This triple CD box set was brought out in 2001 and it's meant to soothe and relax and allow one to 'create your own personal time to relax'. ...of the box, but this time in the form of a CD insert. It lists all 31 tracks in the set, with the name of the track and its composer, and a little info about the piece itself- giving a little bit of context. Taking the CD insert, you're greeted by 3 more copies of the front box- this time on the 3 CD inserts for the 3 CDs! Each CD case is the size of one of the CD cases you'd get when buying a recordable blank CD- so it's a good compact shape. All ...
