Pros and Cons of the Zoom H4 Portable Recorder

Advantages: Fantastic Recording Quality, Rugged design, Various Inputs, Lots of Bonus features.
Disadvantages: Fiddly Menu Navigation, Battery Life.

I'm a musician and I bought this to record my practice sessions and lessons. At first glance the Zoom offers many useful features such as AutoGain adjustment, various effects to play with, phantom power, and the various inputs supported which allow virtually any instrument to be recorded. These are all let down slightly by the irritating jogger button navigation which is used to navigate nearly all of the menus on the device. That said, once a certain amount of fiddling and tweaking has been done to set up the H4, its a joy to use. Starting recording is very quick and easy, as is selecting the format you'd like to record using one of the buttons down the side of the device. The sound quality from the inbuilt mics is very impressive, with a nice wide stereo field from the Y config, and handy rough gain adjustment (Lo/Mid/Hi) sliders ...

Mr Bean Animated Series - Vol.4 DVD

Advantages: Cartoon entertainment for kids
Disadvantages: not as funny as the original, bad graphics, poor comedy

'smashing' stories; 1. Neighbourly Bean, 2. Nurse, 3. Dead Cat, 4. Super Trolley, 5. Magpie, 6. Cat Sitting, & 7. The Bottle. By 'smashing' i think they must be refering to the clumsiness of the Beanmeister and not the quality of the comedy. Although the soundtrack is fairly impressive, especailly for something which appears to be aimed at kids. The ochestral music makes up most of the dialog for all the episodes as Mr Bean just mumbles and grunts every now and then. However other characters do speak for example Irma Gobb (mr beans romatic interest) and also the post man and other neighbours. Teddy however doesnt say anything, but then again why would he? Graphics are very basic and they've made his head way too big for his body. He looks like an orange on a toothpick! However i'm sure this is done on purpose and to appeal to kids. As ...
