Disadvantages: Dubbed singing voices. Little dialogue.

in Paris which has been suitably dressed-up to re-create the past. Cinematography is by Sacha Vierny, who was an ex-WWII Resistance fighter in Paris and a Russian-Jew giving his work credibility. Watch out for the unusual pursuit through the Place de la Concorde! The importance of music runs through the film from the father's singing to his little daughter (a song that returns time again within the film), to Suzie's blossoming singing voice, to the opera rehearsals and performances to the gypsy camps. Non of the actors actually sing themselves (Christina Ricci is dubbed by Iva Bittová and John Turturro by Salvatore Licitra) and the dubbing pretty obvious. However, close your eyes and the music is wonderful with operatic selections from Dido & Aeneas, The Pearl Fishers, Il Trovatore, and Tosca as well as the passionate gypsy pieces ...

Close your eyes and stare in the dark.

Advantages: A story that may remind us of people we know.
Disadvantages: May upset people who have lost a baby.

Close your eyes and stare in the dark was the advice Joyce's Dad used to give her when she was a child and couldn't sleep. He said those same words many years later. Bereavement, friendship, families, love are all covered in this delightful book, mostly set in Ireland. The main characters include Professor Justin Hitchcock, from America but working in London who is afraid of needles and is now divorced and lonely. Dr Sarah Fields, who works for the blood donors organisation, and if you didn?t know anything about blood donations you?ll learn a little in a light hearted way! Bea ? For Everyone's Eyes, Actually!

Advantages: Return to focus on Bond's character and the plot
Disadvantages: Less artistic camera work

The 12th Bond film sees a return to flamboyant and adventurous, with a new director at the helm and a brand new group of villains. Roger Moore once again takes the role of Bond for the 5th time, in For Your Eyes Only. The film is a compilation of two of Fleming's books: For Your Eyes Only and Risico. The Plot Sir Timothy Havelock is in search of the St Georges, the boat containing the Automatic Targeting and Attack Co-ordinator (ATAC), the device used by the Royal Navy to strategise their fleets. When Havelock is killed, Bond is forced to team up with Havelock's daughter, Melina, in search of the ATAC and Havelock's murderer.
