Coal Chamber -
Upon emerging from the subterranean club scene of Los Angeles' Sunset Strip, Coal Chamber ... more
headed straight for the recording studio and, with production assistance from Orgy's Jay Gordon and Amir Derakh, created one of the finest debut albums of the modern rock era. From the irresistible hook-lines of "Loco" to the gratuitous mind warping of "Pig",Coal Chamberis as dark a place as you could ever wish to visit. Charisma bomb vocalist Dez Fafara seduces his way into your psyche as Meegs Rascon's bludgeoning guitar coalesces perfectly with Rayna and Mike Cox's water-tight rhythm play to truly monumental effect. The band offer no quarter whatsoever; the nihilistic menace of "Sway" rubs shoulders with the creeping narcosis of "First", and the aural claustrophobia of "My Frustration" is relentless in its sheer soul-tearing severity.Coal Chamberoffers aHell-bound rollercoaster for the senses. Are you hard enough to hitch a ride?--Ian Fortnam

Advantages: If you like the first, you'll love this one, the album gets better the more you listen to it Disadvantages: Not the best sounding music around
...This is the second album from coalchamber and definitely the better of the two. The album still has their signature sound from their last album which was self titled. There is also a collaboration on this album with Black Sabbath’s front man Ozzy Ozbourne for a cover version of Peter Gabriel's ‘Shock The Monkey’, which was released as a single
Some of the tracks on this album include ‘Feed my dreams’, What’s in your mind?’ and ‘Tyler’s song’ which was written about the lead singers son. This album shows a lot more emotion in the lyrics than their previous album
This band lives up to their shock rocker image, with there band name, look and the sound and lyrics of their music. This album may not be the best I’ve heard but this is the type of album that grows on you in...

Advantages: Fantastic undergroun, down-tuned feel Disadvantages: Vocals not to everyones taste
...CoalChamber have been influenced by a strange variety of goth, hip hop and hardcore, all of which come across in this very well chosen 'Best Of' album. Since their forming in LA back in 1994, the band have stayed at the forefront of nu and underground metal, describing themselves as 'spookycore'. Their originality has remained unchallenged, and this record certainly portrays all of these traits.
This record is part of 'The Roots of RoadrunnerRecords Series', and opens with the blistering track 'Loco' (still remaining my personal favourite CoalChamber song). It moves on through a hypnotic mix of underground, down-tuned riffs and bass lines, the drum and bass pumping throughout. Famous track 'Sway' (many know it as 'The Roof is on Fire') appears as the fourth track, before the album moves on from the bands debut album and into their...

Advantages: Nice packaging, Rayna! Disadvantages: Wimpy metal
...As soon as Chamber Music was released in britain I instantly rushed out to buy it as I had been extremely impressed with their self titled debut album. I poped it into my CD player and was offended to her pansy pop music. Gone were the thrashing guitars and monster riffs and replaced by keyboards and strings. CoalChamber have mellowed out so those expecting mosh pit anthemes like on the original album will be disapointed. Some aspects of this album are very good and some songs not all that bad, my favourites were... What's in your mind?, Feed my dreams and No Home. This album is full of okay tracks none which really stick out the tracks are all similar and can be very repeative and boring. There are no stand out tracks on this album such as Loco, Big Truck or the classic Sway. I picked up the Digipack version of this album...
