Additional notes
Album Notes: The 1980s progenitors of their fellow Scots Franz Ferdinand, the Fire Engines were contemporaries of Gang Of Four, sharing that band's jagged, dislocated approach while cultivating the sharp, lo-fi sound of their comrades-in-arms Josef K and Orange Juice. Though this grab-bag of demos and live recordings is hardly stereophile quality, it still sounds as fresh as if it was recorded yesterday, and likely always will.
Album Reviews: Uncut (p.118) - 4 stars out of 5 - "Far from Eno's aural tranquillisers, this was ambient as buzz music, a spiky cloud of sonic amphetamine designed to get you in the right mood..."

Advantages: None Disadvantages: No screaming, soft drums and guitars
...Of all the bands to go mainstream I would never have placed Atreyu as one of them. This album is nothing like their old ones is by far their poorest album. This album is geared towards teenagers who listen to the emo genre.
If you liked Atreyu's old stuff, then give 36 Crazyfists a try, they keep to their roots and have a similar style to Atreyu.
The songs on this album all sound similar and there is little to none of Atreyu's trademark screaming. This album is very listenable to, but it just wasn't what i wanted. Stick to their old albums and hopefully in the future we will see a return to form.
On a whole I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with this album but because its a band I used to love I still had to give this album a 2/5...

...Well want can I say about this album, in a word it is amazing! They sound a bit like Arcade Fire with a slightly more pop edge (which is by no means a bad thing). If you also like Klaxons and the Flaming lips I'm sure you'll like this.
Their rich sound of synthes, guitars and rock beats creates some wonderful songs. There is a real antheme on here like "time to pretend" it's one of those tracks that will lodge itself in your head. To the more chilled out "electric feel" and "the youth" there is a song on here for everyone.
I can't recommend this album enough... go out there and listen you won't be disapointed!
Their unique sound is bound to make this a very popular album for 2008....
