The movie by virtual unknown Nicholas Kazan was the screenwriter?s first outing as a big screen director; and unfortunately his last. Never letting go of either his script or his direction skills at any time his execution is that of a real pro. The only real fault in the movie is a reasonably poor musical score by award winning musical composer Christopher Young. The music never quite seems to react well enough to the action played out on screen, instead it comes off as second rate, pulling the movie down into an almost TV movie style soundtrack.
Dream Lover is available online or in the high streets for about £4.99; the only special feature is the trailer for the movie. Believe me this movie is not one to miss. ...
Advantages: Great variety of songs, enough tracks to keep anybody occupied for some time. Disadvantages: Slightly genre-specific, I suppose.
What is there to say about SteeleyeSpan to the unacquainted? The immediate comparison that leaps to mind is to the contemporary British folk-group, Fairport Convention, but it is unlikely that many of Fairport's fans will have managed to miss out on Steeleye altogether, and they, too, have faded rather into obscurity, rendering the comparison quite useless. Therefore, to start from the beginning:
SteeleyeSpan are one of those groups who don't seem to be able to keep a static line-up for more than two albums at a time. That said, the thing about Steeleye is that it doesn't matter what incarnation of the band you are listening to, they are *always good*.
