...I am listening to DougieMacLean singing on the CD CraigieDhu. DougieMacLean is a Scottish Folksinger songwriter. He began playing in the seventies with the Tannahill Weavers and Silly Wizard. In 1983 he concentrated on his solo work. His first solo record was Cragie Dhu He wrote many of the songs in this collection himself.
Playing with Dougie on this album are vocals, guitar, fiddle. Roy Ashby: drums (track 9). Martin Hadden: guitar (track 5). Patsy Seddon: clarsach (track 3). Jimmy Anderson: electric guitar (Track 9). Dougie Maclean plays guitar, fiddle and sings the vocals.

This one disc CD contains the Dougie Maclean collection of songs. The hugely successful Scottish singer/song writer/multi-instrumentalist and musician. This contains 11 tracks of Maclean's hits from the 90's.
**History Behind Dougie Maclean**
Dougie Maclean started off a a street player in Perthshire, Scotland. He was invited to join the The Tannahill Weavers in 1976, which were and now are still a very popular scottish folk band. He started of his solo career in 1981 but by this time, had already written lots of songs. And so starts the upward way of his career.
He started releasing songs, and with his hit "Caledonia" (which had the whole of Scotland singing along) made him a well known Scottish musician. Then his next succeses of "A Wing On A Prayer" "Turning Away" and "The Search" which made him famous...

...Having been a fan of Travis for three years beforehand, I was delighted back in '99 when a friend of support band Ooberman got me into one of their end-of-tour parties at the Notting Hill Arts Centre. I don't want to boast about meeting the band blah blah blah, just tell a story which proves that Travis really are one of the nicest bands around.
Having chatted to Fran for a bit (we subscequently featured in the Melody Maker's 'Ligger of the Week' section, I came across Dougie and asked if I could have my picture taken with him. Only problem was, as we lined up for the photo, the guy holding my camera to take the shot dropped it. The back fell off and I was gutted; but Dougie refused to let this stop the photo going ahead! He made half the room stand still while he crawled around the floor to find the missing piece of my camera...
