Since I know my wife, I came with many different kinds of music into contact, as I would not have considered it possible. Even if I find of it some things only cruel, we treat ourselves nevertheless equally. Thus I listen to the “Schürzenjäger” for example only if I am alone at home. “Schürzenjäger” is a music band from Austria.
Anyhow did we come some time ago on the idea and did buy from Tracy Chapman the Best OF CD “Collection” and which my impressions are of it, I will now telling you. But before some information about Tracy Chapman. Maybe some from you people don´t know this Lady.
Who is Tracy Capman? +++++++++++++++++
Tracy Chapman is born on 30 March 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio. Already at the age of eight years she began to write own Songs for itself. Until 1986 she studied anthropology and Afrikanistik, arose during this time in small clubs and sang on the road. Their break-through Tracy Chapman owed to a computer problem. 1988 were that, with the enormous solidarity concert to Nelson Mandelas 70. Birthday.
Somebody had stolen Stevie Wonder the sound disks, and in order the embarrassing concert break in the Wembley stadium to bridge, one pushed the small lady with the acoustic guitar onto the stage. The viewers world-wide were astonished: There a girl dared nevertheless smoothly to take again the old Bob Dylan number off without net and
double soil, but with social critical texts and each quantity of embarrassment in the old voice
To ten million time Chapmans debut album with hits like "Fast Car" or "Talkin Bout A revolution” in the following one over the counters. In the nineties, the fun decade, she became silent around Tracy Chapman. Suitably the current crisis period it is again there with its sad songs. The Best Of CD “ Collection” +++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Fast Car (1987) +++++++++++++
It is a very calm and thoughtful Song only by a guitar. It acts to leave its current life behind itself and dare a new beginning. Arrange it a certain sadness for me. The voice of Tracy is however mad
2. Subcity (1989) +++++++++++++
I lives in the Slums of a country corruption and poverty. And it is no way out.. Over it goes into this song. A song, which is correct very thoughtfully. In addition it is accompanied additionally by a harmonica, which let it sound still sadder.
3. Baby Can I hold you (1982) +++++++++++++++++++++++
This song is about the grind in the love. Contrary to the first two songs it works already nearly somewhat agressiv, thus as if she would be glad to have the types finally loosely which prepared her so much grind. I repeat myself here, but their voice is mad.
4. The Promise (1994) ++++++++++++++++
A very beautiful and very calm love song. Not much more is to be heard than a guitar and the mad voice of the singer. For me this song has a marvelous force of expression that it is for me the most beautiful song on the disk. It concerns here parting and to the promise to wait one on the other. If it to be must for always. Just beautiful, I think
5. I'm ready (1994) +++++++++++++
A Song, which I don´t like so much . It is also very calm, but the singing does not fit so correctly somehow. It begins after short time to nerves, since it becomes rather monotonous. Unfortunately the song is then also still nearly five minutes long.
6. Crossroads (1989) +++++++++++++++
the Song always acts those of the society, something wants of you. The Song sounds more heavy, nearly already as it all their grind to discharge would want. I like this song.
7. Bang, Bang Bang (1992) ++++++++++++++++++++
Instead to give our children love, we give them weapons. Kid get used very fast to it and one time this our kid come back to kill us. All this say me this song The Song begins very calmly, but he increases with the length. Beside the usual guitar and drums comes into the play. I could listen to the Song for hours.
8. Telling Storys (1999) ++++++++++++++++++
I finds the Song great . It concerns a somewhat faster Song here, so that one can dance even well in addition. I cannot say more to it.
9. Here Smoke and Ashes (1994) ++++++++++++++++++++++++
A Love is finished and you cannot believe it. . The Song goes much under my skin, it begins very calmly and sensitively. The company of piano and the infinitely sad voice make the whole perfectly.
10. Speak the Word (1999) +++++++++++++++++++ This song is also about love . In a relationship you must have always respect and you must can forgive. This is what the song tell me.
11. Wedding Song ( 1999 ) 12. Open Arms ( 1992 ) 13. Give me one Reason ( 1986
14. Talkin ' Bout A revolution (1982)
This song is about discrimination from minorities and over it that that is to have finally times an end. The Song has 20 years on the embossment and will, so sadly it sounds, probably still for a long time to be current
15. She´s got her Ticket ( 1986 ) 16. All That you have is your Soul ( 1989 )

Opinion
I find the music of Tracy Chapman have already which fascinating and timeless. Alone her voice is a good reason, to listen to this music for some time. I can enjoy this music and forget this bad world for sometime.
Despite all I do not find the music suitable for sounding oneself all day long. In the long run seen, the music becomes boring and one longs itself for something quicker. My wife can listen to this music for many hours, but she don´t make it, because she feel sorry for me. Because of this, I was very surprised to listen to this music alone to write this opinion. But what I do not all for you and CIAO? *g* Did I not repent myself, as said, with the time it becomes boring?
Result ++++ What I can say here is, this music is only good for fans from Tracy Chapman. For me it is only good, when I need a different kind of music.
