Sick of everything 50cent related? Bored of Snoop glorifying pimps? Me too, this album however is just the breath of fresh air that hip hop has been waiting for. The album, based around Kanye's dropout of college portrays real life for Kanye with all the wit and intellect hip hop has lacked of recent. The first track displays this amazingly well displaying the true grit of drug culture set to an infectious pop beat. The lyrics don't deviate from any of Kanye's harsh realities whilst the beats are some of the freshest and most inventive around at the moment. The bass lines are truly infectious, offering truly rememberable lines that have so much funk in them. Admittedly not the most original bass lines but unlike offerings from other artists, they're truly uplifting. Despite the lyrical content, it is hard to not feel good after hearing this album. Adding to the mix is the inteligent use of skits, almost a soliloquie from Kanye, but these really add a new depth to the album. One of the finest hip hop albums around.
