kanye west, producer extrodinaire turned mc debuts with this soul filled lp. usally known for his production for the likes of jay z. scarface, alicia keys etc etc he debuts with a truly classic first album, to stake a claim as hip hops new "soul brother #1". like his earlier counterpart ,pete rock, his heavy use of soul samples create a timeless hip-hop jem. his lyrics granted are not on the level of his beats, but with collabs from jay z,common, mos def and others this guy has raised the game. great to her something refreshing that has restored my confidence in the future of hip hop after the debuts of 50 cent and his gimp unit money grabbers. rhymes reminiscent of ATCQ in that its a gangster free zone. i would totally recommend this, and if like this your sure to like common, mos def and talib kweli.
