We all know who Linkin Park is they are the band that blends heavy rock with hip – hop so successfully. When I heard they were teaming up with Jay – Z I was very happy.
The whole reason that this album came about was that Jay – Z’s Black album had been released as an Acapella version this gave Street DJs the chance to remix this album. Literally there were thousands of black album remix albums made. Jay Z was unhappy with them and teamed up Linkin Park to make his own. Mike Shinoda was the main guy who mixed the album together. He began his mixing career mixing Jay –Z reasonable doubt with random beats.
1. Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You – DOYS is from the black album and LFY is from Meteroa. This is one of my favourite mixes on the album as it starts of with DOYS beat then goes in with a heavy rock beat. Great track these are two of my favourite songs blended together great mix. 10/10
2. Big Pimpin’/Papercut – Big pimpin is from vol 3 the life and times. Papercut is from hybrid theory. To me this is one of the worst songs on the album as it is a remix that should never had happened. Big pimpin and happy upbeat song with a dark song wrong combo for me but not a bad song but not great 6/10.
3. Jigga What/Faint – Another great track I love faint and really like the remix. At first I thought it would be another Big Pimpin’/Papercut but I was surprised as it was very good and well blended. 8/10
4. Numb/Encore – This was the first song that was played on TV from the album. This song got me so excited about this album. This track is great blended so well, this is easily the best song on the album and a great mellow track to listen to. 10/10
5. IZZO/In The End – This is kind of like track three a bit corny but it aint bad. It blends a mellow rock track with a fun hip-hop beat isn’t great. But it is catchy like all the tracks on this album and the more I listened to it I liked it not bad. 7/10
6. Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer – This is the track all rock fans are sure to love. 99 problems was Jay-Z last song it was originally produced by Rick Rubin and had a sort of heavy rock beat to it. The mix with POA + OSC is great two great rock anthems mixed to a great rhyme. Great heavy track. 10/10
This also comes with a DVD, which is great. These tracks were performed to a hand picked audience and features all the tracks sung live. It also shows the making of the album, which is great. Shows how they got the ideas and shows the recording it’s a great DVD for both sets of fans.In my opinion you like rock get this album, you like hip-hop get this album something for all fans a great album. Buy it and you will not regret it.
