Colour of the trap is miles kane's first solo album, and what a debut. After hearing his work with friend and arctic monkeys frontman Alex Turner in the last shadow puppets i was keen on him, but didn't think he had it in him to work alone, how wrong was i.

Kane has had turner working on certain songs on the album and even noel gallagher features with some vocals. Recorded in London and San Fransico with legendary producer 'Dan The Automator', who had also produced with kasabain and Gorillaz.

The record is really refreshing, full of great, singalong tracks and memorable guitar licks. The first few songs are really get up and go, with strong, beating basslines and simple but catchy lyrics. Now, my favourite tracks on the album have to be rearrange and inhaler, which are both singles. The guitar riff in rearrange takes me back a few decades but still sounds so relavant and modern. I just love the attitude kane has on this record and if i dare say he reminds me of a modern day beatle.

Overall a great album, there's one or two songs on there that i don't rate, however what album doesn't have them. Miles has made a great start to his solo career here and i can see a very long and successful future ahead of this lad. Definatly worth a listen, you won't be disapointed.
