...performers to be inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame, and he is also in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. This makes JohnnyCash a full member of the three major music halls of fames, along with only one other person! Advantages: Most Of Cash's well known songs are here Disadvantages: Not enough songs!
...I finished writing a review about another JohnnyCash CD I recently bought & I thought I should move on to the CD which will probably appeal more widely than the Duets CD. I started this review back in September and now it has finally come to it's conclusion!
JohnnyCash, the great man in black, enjoying a revival thanks to the film 'Walk The Line' and recent releases of new material. I have been a Cash fan for longer than I care to remember so I am glad to see the man becoming popular again and appealing to such a wide audience, not just country music fans.
Of course, the late, great JohnnyCash is no longer with us, having passed away in 2003, only months after the death of his beloved wife and musical partner, June Carter-Cash, but he seems to be just as popular today as he was in his Sun records hey day in the 60's.

Advantages: Great travelogue in music of the Old West Disadvantages: None
...This is a fascinating album presenting JohnnyCash as a singer and a narrator. Each track is preceded by the haunting sound in the background of a steam locomotive and its whistle while Johnny tells a story of the song he is about to sing.
Track 1 - Loading Coal (4mins.59secs.)
The travelogue begins with a recital of place-names of America and continues with the thundering names of the indian tribes who lived here first. Then Johnny boards the train, stopping first at a small town in the mining country of Kentucky. He presents a brief character sketch of a boy whose father is a miner. "Loading Coal" tells the story of a miner who never expects to get rich but still follows the tradition of his family.
Track 2 - Slow Rider(4.10)
The train then moves westward onto the prairies where we meet the outlaw John Wesley Hardin, whose...
