Just what is it about Shania Twain? Ok, so she’s beautiful, breathtakingly beautiful. She has a classic face – oh, and a figure to make any woman reach for the Slim Fast. Watching her display her flat, brown belly in faded blue jeans is enough to make us mere mortals weep. Even though she has just presented her hubby (Record Producer Mutt Lange) with a baby, you can bet she will be back in those blue jeans before Twain junior is sleeping through the night.
Shania has had some very hard times in her life. Her parents were killed in a car crash when she was 21 and Shania raised her three younger siblings. Even so, I’ll bet her PR people were thrilled with such an emotive story….
Best of all, this gal can really sing. She has tipped Country Music on its’ head and not everyone has been thrilled. The high-ups at Nashville like their women wigged and fringed and Shania’s penchant for baring her belly (remember, the flat brown one) did not go down at all well. But even the disgruntled ones couldn’t argue with her phenomenal record sales and her success at crashing into the singles and albums charts in a way that Dolly could only have dreamed of. Shania has scooped the board at many Country Music Awards…much to her delight and that of fans around the world.
I first got into Shania after hearing ‘From this moment on’. I have since heard that it is the most popular song for people to walk up the aisle to. I bought her album ‘Come on Over’ and it is a cracker. It has proved a good investment too, as it has had so many singles released from it. ‘You’re still the one’, the aforementioned ‘From this moment on’, ‘Man, I feel like a woman’, ‘Don’t be stupid, you know I love you’ and ‘That don’t impress me much’ – all brought chart success for Shania.
The whole album is very strong, with the exception of (to my mind) the title track, which although ok, is the low point. But the 15 other tracks are all superb. I have been listening to it regularly for over a year now and it is still my favourite album. I never get tired of it.
Shania can belt out a rock/country number like ‘Rock this Country’ or ‘Whatever you do! Don’t!’ which will have you winding down your car window and pumping up the volume. Her tribute to battered women, ‘Black eyes, blue tears’, contains the immortal lyric ‘I’d rather die standing than live on my knees’. Great stuff. Her voice is equally suited to ballads and ‘You’ve got a way’ could easily have been another single. In fact, the whole album could have been. It is that good.
If you are a glutton for punishment, like me, get yourself Shania’s Platinum collection video. It has most of her hits and her wonderfully diverse videos. Be warned though, this is not one to watch while curled up on the sofa with the Haagen Das. This woman is so stunning she could make Michelle Pfeiffer feel inadequate…
My partner raves about her and I don’t even feel jealous, cos I think this woman is totally fantastic too…if only I could look like her in blue jeans….
Shania Twain's award winning album Come On Over is a classic with every track a hit (or worthy of being a hit) and is worth buying (only £9.99 at Sainsbury's) for the feel-good value of the album.
Although Shania is a country and western singer, a lot of her songs are mainstream so don't be concerned about ruining your street cred by listening to her! Shania appeals to the young, the old, men, women and all nationalities. Come On Over is her 3rd ... ...of the 16 tracks on Come On Over is That Don't Impress Me Much, a cheerful, easy to sing along to song that most of the country know that words to now (don't know what Brad Pitt makes of it though!). Other hits to dance to are I Feel Like A Woman and Don't be Stupid. Less well-known tracks that are really feel-good tunes are Rock This Country and Love Gets Me Every Time. They are tunes that really get your feet moving and like all Shania's songs ...

Come On Over (02:54)
A really upbeat ‘funky’ tune that has me smiling and singing along so the neighbourhood is afflicted by my voice!!!! Lol. It’s a song you play to your mates or lovers; it’s appropriate to say to anyone you’re close to! One of my personal favourites!

Whatever You Do! Don't (03:48)

Before I decided to buy this album that was recommended to me by a friend, I absolutely hated any type of country and western music. But I have been turned around by this album and this amazing singer. Not only has she got an amazing voice, but she is lucky to be so attractive too! The album will last you ages and never seems to become boring! It is quite old now for modern day music, but this is worth buying still. But why is Shania Twain in the ...

Advantages: Smooth delivery of songs with rythmn Disadvantages: Too few albums
I guess Shania Twain must be one of the most enduring artiste these days. With her stunning looks and smooth voice, no wonder she is one of the most popular singer around the globe. After listening to several songs on her "Come on over" CD, I very much loved to hear the pieces over and over again, esp. the "You're the Only", "That Don't Impress Me Much" and "Man I Feel Like A Woman" songs. However, the no. of albums she recorded is on the low side. ...

***INTRO***
I bought my copy (CD) of ShaniaTwainCome On Over from Our Price Covent Garden in 2000, when CD's still had novelty value. It was the rather expensive £13.99. The issue was released on the international market on the 22/11/99. A pop/country mix of the original 1997 album. It was after catching her on TOTP with a feisty performance of "That Don't Impress Me Much".

Advantages: Good music Disadvantages: Shania comparsons
I bought my first Faith Hill album purley because it had This Kiss on it, which has to be one of the best songs ever made.
At time I had also just bought Come On Over by ShaniaTwain and I thought that Faith Hill's music was within the same vain of being able to bridge the country/pop boundry.
However although both Faith and Shania have the same ideas they are infact very different, where as Shania's excellent music is more poppy Faith has stayed true to her country routes whilst still becoming more modern.
My favourite song on Breath has to be The Way You love Me which is so bouncy and a great song to walk or run to as it's so bouncy.
Faith really diserved her CMA for best Female Artist and I feel her duiet with her husband Tim Mcgraw should have also taken and award.
With Faith, Shania and the Dixi Chicks country ...
Advantages: ALL THE BEST SONGS ON ONE CD Disadvantages: NONE
I must say i have got to be one of shania's biggest fans not only do i have the greatest hits album i also own the first two albums as well her first album come on over and her second album up.
Shaniatwain has got to be one of the most contempery selling country singers her voice is very versitile she can take a country song such as KA-CHING and make it sound like a pop song yet still keeping her country style.
I got this album as a christmas present so it didn't cost me anything but as this was made in 2004 it has gone down in price to around £9.99 in places such as whsmith.
The album itself is made by mercury records all the songs on the album are songs taken from her previous albums and they are written by shania herself and co written by r.j. lange.
The insert booklet contains all the words to the songs so you can sing ...

"You're Still The One" won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Female Country Performance and Best Country Song, and was nominated for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. COME ON OVER was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Album Of The Year and Best Country Album. Following her smash hit THE WOMAN IN ME was no easy task for Shania Twain and husband/producer Mutt Lange. With COME ON OVER the sexy vixen of modern country has carved out a bigger niche for herself that is sure to please her growing throng of fans. With a huge helping of rock and roll added to her country trimmings, Twain proves her success has been no fluke. As a rule, she goes out of her way to break the traditional Nashville mold. Even her songwriting skills are at the forefront; Shania and Mutt co-wrote all the songs on this collection. Sounding like a disciple of Linda Ronstadt and Tina Turner with a dash of Tanya Tucker, Twain launches into country-club rockers like "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!," "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)," and "Rock This Country!" with a fervor. A guest shot by singer Bryan White adds a touch of drama to the powerful "From This Moment On." Top-40 flavored tunes abound on the rest of the disc including "Love Gets Me Every Time," "If You Wanna Touch Her, Ask!," and even the country-fied hip-hop of "Honey, I'm Home." Finally, the acoustic ballad "You've Got A Way" adds a soft touch to round out the set.
