***MY OPINION***
Personally I think Shania Twain is great and she has sung duet with Elton John. the tunes on this album are by no means her best, but do cover her early pieces released to the UK market. generally a blend of high powered pop/country with a rock feel. I never did see Notting Hill the movie but it must have helped sales of the CD. The 2 singles are great.
Advantages: Fantasic and original music. Disadvantages: None.
away Shania concentrated on her music and moved to Nashville to get her recording career started. Shania wasn't able to write any songs on her debut album due to Nashville rules, but the album gained the attention of legendary rock producer Robert John 'Mutt' Lange. After only knowing each other for 6 months the couple married and the rest is history.
Come On Over was written by Twain and Lange. The opening song 'Man I Feel Like A Woman' has become and anthem for women and transexuals everywhere. It is the perfect opening song for the album and shows the mood in which the album goes.
From This Moment On is the classic love song of the album, written about Shania's parents. The emotion in Shania voice is outstanding in this song. Many critics call Shania emotionless and a robot but songs like 'I Wont Leave You Lonely', 'You've Got A Way ...
ShaniaTwain's award winning album Come On Over is a classic with every track a hit (or worthy of being a hit) and is worth buying (only £9.99 at Sainsbury's) for the feel-good value of the album.
Although Shania is a country and western singer, a lot of her songs are mainstream so don't be concerned about ruining your street cred by listening to her! Shania appeals to the young, the old, men, women and all nationalities. Come On Over is her 3rd and best album by far but once you get into her sound then her older albums like The Woman In Me may appeal to you.
The most well-known of the 16 tracks on Come On Over is That Don't Impress Me Much, a cheerful, easy to sing along to song that most of the country know that words to now (don't know what Brad Pitt makes of it though!). Other hits to dance to are I Feel Like A Woman and Don ...
Advantages: Great tracks Disadvantages: Some a bit too country style
I absolutely love this album called Come On Over by ShaniaTwain. Before I was not exactly fond of country music. In fact it really irritated me and annoyed me so much i could not stand it. However ShaniaTwain has managed to create a mixture of both pop and country music, and so creating a widely popular style of music with people of all ages and different music interests. My favourite track from this album has to be Still The One it is a great slow love song, which is really tuneful and catchy, and will certinately get you singing along to it in absolutely no time. ...

"You're Still The One" won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Female Country Performance and Best Country Song, and was nominated for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. COME ON OVER was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Album Of The Year and Best Country Album. Following her smash hit THE WOMAN IN ME was no easy task for Shania Twain and husband/producer Mutt Lange. With COME ON OVER the sexy vixen of modern country has carved out a bigger niche for herself that is sure to please her growing throng of fans. With a huge helping of rock and roll added to her country trimmings, Twain proves her success has been no fluke. As a rule, she goes out of her way to break the traditional Nashville mold. Even her songwriting skills are at the forefront; Shania and Mutt co-wrote all the songs on this collection. Sounding like a disciple of Linda Ronstadt and Tina Turner with a dash of Tanya Tucker, Twain launches into country-club rockers like "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!," "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)," and "Rock This Country!" with a fervor. A guest shot by singer Bryan White adds a touch of drama to the powerful "From This Moment On." Top-40 flavored tunes abound on the rest of the disc including "Love Gets Me Every Time," "If You Wanna Touch Her, Ask!," and even the country-fied hip-hop of "Honey, I'm Home." Finally, the acoustic ballad "You've Got A Way" adds a soft touch to round out the set.
