Advantages: Witty, funny, entertaining, charm of a lost era

If you long for humour which doesn't depend on vitriol, swearing, sexual innuendo or childishness, this three CD set is just what you have been looking for. Michael Flanders and Donald Swann were big stars in England in the late 1950 and early 1960s, also touring Canada, the USA and Australia. I first heard tenacious D on Kerrang when i heard "tribute". A year or two after i had the chance to get the album so i did. I havn't listened to it that many times but every time i do, i enjoy it. Tracks "Kielbasa" - In this song Jack Black sings about his desire for anal sex. It's quite a good song but not the best. "One Note Song" - This is a great skit. It's about Jack writing a song with one note. "Tribute" - The song that made me want ...
...shouts "Rock!" and the music kicks in. Amazing. "Wonderboy" - Most people regard this as the best song on the album but i disagree. It is a god song just not the best. "Hard F**king" - A 36 second skit. This is pretty much an introduction to the next song stretched into a seperate track. "F**k Her Gently" - Once again everyone loves this song but me. Disadvantages: Many references are Implicit rather than Explicit; you have to think 'beyond the box'!

Advantages: Almost the perfect party album
Disadvantages: one poor track.

The previous reviewer suggests you have to be from Somerset to really appreciate the Wurzels... I'd beg to differ. As far as I'm concerned, all you need is a healthy sense of humour, and an open mind when it comes to your music! This album is huge fun, and although the selection of songs are now a few years old (album was released in 2002) it still sounds great.
