Advantages: Almost the perfect party album Disadvantages: one poor track.
The previous reviewer suggests you have to be from Somerset to really appreciate the Wurzels... I'd beg to differ. As far as I'm concerned, all you need is a healthy sense of humour, and an open mind when it comes to your music! This album is huge fun, and although the selection of songs are now a few years old (album was released in 2002) it still sounds great. The musicianship is first class as you would expect from guys who've been playing for ... ...ready - but then you would sound like that after a lifetime of drinking proper west country scrumpy! The track list is 1. Ooh- Aah Just a Little Bit (Gina G)
2. You're Gorgeous (Babybird)
3. Dead From The Waist Down (Catatonia)
4. Country House (Blur)
5. Don't Look Back In Anger (Oasis)
6 . Why Does It Always Rain On Me (Travis)
7. Tubthumping (Chumbawumba)
8. Come On Santa (Wurzels)
9. Rock D.J (Robbie Williams)
10. It Wasn't Me (Shaggy)

Advantages: includes all best known newhart sketches Disadvantages: some items not so strong
This C D contains some great material,Newhart was and still is a one off,no one does these kinds of monologue's these days and even back then, most of these sketches come from the early sixty's,only Victor Borge comes to mind.Newharts idea's come from real life,in many ways he was an early leader in what became known as,"observational comerdy"although he is not as P.C. as most comedian's today,as in picking on women drivers in the Driving Instructors ... ...are based on historic event's,such as Abe Lincoln vs Madison Avenue,Introduing Tobacco To Civilization and Merchandising The Wright Brothers. All are bacisially Bob Newhart talking to himself about thing's he finds humour in,that most others would not be able to find anything funny in at all. These subjects include bomb disposal, flying, bus driving, retirement and jumping off buildings.
I am not going to list every track as there are 10 on CD1 and 14 ...
Advantages: Great comedy, fabulous pianist, Disadvantages: Recording quality...
Victor Borge is one of the original musical comics from yester year, who remains (unfortunately) quite unknown by the younger population of the country. This CD is a recording from a performance Victor Borge participated in many years ago. Consequently, the quality is not the most fabulous in the world - it is an atmospheric recording. This is not a disadvantage however, in my opinion, as it enables the listener to hear not only Victor and the piano ... ...laughter, which I feel adds significantly to the cd! You can also pick out certain words from the audience, which is significant in a couple of tracks - for example "Variations on a theme", where the audience call out composer names.
This cd would suit a few types of people. Those who love "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue" and enjoy the musical rounds such as Just a Minum and One Song To The Tune Of Another will appreciate both the type of comedy Victor ...
Advantages: It makes you laugh Disadvantages: Erm... it makes you laugh
...cure for SLOM. Weird Al. Poodle Hat, which incidentally is one of his latest CD's, promises the buyer both laughter, mirth and satisfaction. It completes this far too well. For those of you who don't know of Weird Al, I will fill you in briefly. He is an unbelievabely talented music artist, who is often dubbed "The King Of Parody", as most of his memorable songs are parodies of famous songs that just need the Micky taking out of them. He does however, ... ...all of which are just as hillarious as his parodies.
On this CD's his parodies include songs such as "I want it that way" - backstreet boys, and "Lose yourself" - Eminem. Half of the songs are entirely of his own creation, and range from him singing about hardware stores, to parties with lepors. As well as his parodies and own genius creations, you get "The Angry White Boy Polka" - and trust me when I say this. To understand quite what it is, and ...
Advantages: the mind-melting indecipherable segues between the sketches. Disadvantages: not for everyone (understatement of the century)
whatever you think of this album, you'll think something... it's not an experience anyone is ever going to forget, descending into the twisted genius of chris morris. there is something i think everyone could like on this album... it's just that, for some, some of the material will go a little too far. tracks called "bad sex" illustrate my point exactly, an excerpt: "stick your balls up my nose" will show you why the queen's probably not chris' biggest ...
