Nightmare! Here comes the beast again!
Advantages: Metal, nostalgic, incredibly funny Disadvantages: Vulgar
...Comic Strip did their hilarious Bad News and More Bad News, came the Bad News album. A selection if spoof songs, all intentionally played badly, interspersed with dialogue of the band arguing, being interviewed, getting drunk and locking each other in the studio. Only the foulest of foul language is used throughout.
HOWEVER:
When I was fifteen (too long ago!), I was a huge heavy metal fan and many a breaktime, lunchtime and study period was spent ... ...The songs:
Hey Hey Bad News - THE best singalong chorus ever written
Warriors Of Ghengis Khan - "Baby, baby, baby, baby, babyyyyyy!"
Bohemian Rhapsody - Bohemian Crapsody
Bad News - Den's lead solo!
Masturbike - enough said
Drink 'til I Die - "Give me a drink, Mr Bartender…"
The dialogue is often witty, often sublime, usually vulgar and always hilarious.
If you like Heavy Metal, immature toilet humour and willy jokes, you must own this.

Definitely The Best
Advantages: A great album, lots of songs, all funny, moneys worth Disadvantages: Can be boring if listened to lots.
What an album. Not only is Peter a fantastic comedian but he's also a great singer. All the songs are taken from the series of 'Phoenix Nights' and 'Max & Paddy'. His singing is very often cabaret but this is intentional. He has not done this to make a career in the singing industry. It’s sung to be funny and this is the only aim. There are some great classics on here. The always recognizable 'Way To Amarillo' features. A song that has become a legend ...

The Prophets Never Mentioned Socks
Advantages: Fitth Hounds of Hades Disadvantages: There is No Proper Name For The back of the Knees
...the extreme. Take Sir Henry for example a pompous arrogant buffoon with very few redeeming qualities to his character. He drip feeds his marrow, described as a monstrous jade zebra veg, the reason for this being "should some rascal half-inch and eat it, it'll give him the liquorice for weeks" very quickly we are faced with the full pomposity of Sir Henry's character and in here there is definitely shades of Churchill being saterised, quite viciously. ... ...one who could live with Sir Henry would have to have both these qualities. Sir Henries attitude to the staff is shockingly bad they are there to satisfy his needs and nothing else his request to the housekeeper Mrs E "I don't know what I want, but I want it now" shows this quite clearly, as is his repost to Old Scrotum "You are supposed to love me, You vile Jelly" before hitting him over the head with a gun reinforces this.
Vivian's ability to use ...

You simply have to buy this for "Two Little Boys"
Advantages: 5 very good tracks Disadvantages: A few duds in between the good tracks.
Rolf's 1969 release of "Two Little Boys" which is a song about the American Cicil War and written in 1902 is simply brilliant and alone justifies the whole purchase price of this 18 track CD. It is a difficult track to get hold of on other Rolf Harris CDs and quite rare to find on general 1960s compilation CDs. It was only recently that Rolf discovered a real personal poignancy to the song because the story bears such a resemblance to the WWI experiences ... ...who died at the age of 19 after being wounded in battle in France in 1918. "If I Were A Rich Man" is an excellent version of the famous song from the Film/Play Fiddler On The Roof. "Waltzing Matilda", "Jake The Peg" and "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" are also nice tracks to have in your music collection. This is a desirable CD to have in my opinion and one that you will play and will defintely want to rip at least 2 or 3 tracks to other music media ...

Satire with a touch of innocence from a bygone age
Advantages: Witty, funny, entertaining, charm of a lost era Disadvantages: A few of the references seem a little dated
If you long for humour which doesn't depend on vitriol, swearing, sexual innuendo or childishness, this three CD set is just what you have been looking for.
Michael Flanders and Donald Swann were big stars in England in the late 1950 and early 1960s, also touring Canada, the USA and Australia. The wheelchair bound Flanders was the 'funny' man on vocals, with Swann 'the straight' man on the piano. Their repertoire is marked by a gentle and wry humour, ... ...so much contemporary humour. As Flanders says himself in one of his introductions in At the Drop of Another Hat, "the purpose of Satire, it has been rightly said, is to strip off the veneer of comforting illusion and cosy half-truth - and our job, as I see it, is to put it back again. "
There are some great examples of stoical British humour, such as "The Gas Man Cometh" and "A Song for the Weather". Flanders' wordplay is perhaps shown off best ...
