Nightmare! Here comes the beast again! Advantages: Metal, nostalgic, incredibly funny Disadvantages: Vulgar ...Comic Strip did their hilarious Bad News and More Bad News, came the Bad News album. A selection if spoof songs, all intentionally played badly, interspersed with dialogue of the band arguing, being interviewed, getting drunk and locking each other in the studio. Only the foulest of foul language is used throughout. HOWEVER: When I was fifteen (too long ago!), I was a huge heavy metal fan and many a breaktime, lunchtime and study period was spent ... ...The songs: Hey Hey Bad News - THE best singalong chorus ever written Warriors Of Ghengis Khan - "Baby, baby, baby, baby, babyyyyyy!" Bohemian Rhapsody - Bohemian Crapsody Bad News - Den's lead solo! Masturbike - enough said Drink 'til I Die - "Give me a drink, Mr Bartender…" The dialogue is often witty, often sublime, usually vulgar and always hilarious. Our Kid Eh? Advantages: Funny lyrics Disadvantages: After one play, it's boring I first bought this when it was first released in 2001/2 (I can't remember) and I gave it the quick once-through before it ended up on the eternal abyss of my 'music-shelf.' Just to clarify, I operate a music system, the good albums stay in an ever-increasing pile near my stereo. Now, what set's The Shirehorses apart from other bands? Firstly, it includes BBC Radio 1's favourites Mark & Lard - combined with the insanely monnikered 'The Dark Horse' ... ...rather low quality, of The Shirehorses performing at "The Enormodome", if that is indeed a real place. You get 'A Roll With It', 'Feel Like Sh*' and 'Country Spouse.' The first song on the CD is 'If You Tolerate This Pi' which is by the 'Manic Street Sweepers.' As you can guess, this is a parody of the hit single 'If You Tolerate This...' by the Rock band 'Manic St. Preachers.' The song starts well, but trails off near the end and only manages ... We are but men! Rock !!!! Advantages: Great band, great vocals and music. Disadvantages: Some weak links ...Kyle Gass who make up Tenacious D, you shouldn't give a crap about much, especially bad language etc. If you are this person, like me then this CD is for you. I have no edited the lyrics so there will be some swear words there. Just a warning. The Album A brilliant album, which isn't for everyone, this is why: Track 1- Keilbasa Even the first lines of the song show you that they don't care, it's showing them coming up with a song, ... ...this song got me into Tenacious D, such a brilliant song. Jack starts off just talking, with Kyle playing a great riff, there's some singing but it's mainly a spoken song. This song was their first UK release and this is what got them their success, and rightly so. The lyrics are amazing, and the fact that they managed to get the likes of Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters (and Nivarna), shows their success. This song is just tongue in cheek throughout ... Definitely The Best Advantages: A great album, lots of songs, all funny, moneys worth Disadvantages: Can be boring if listened to lots. What an album. Not only is Peter a fantastic comedian but he's also a great singer. All the songs are taken from the series of 'Phoenix Nights' and 'Max & Paddy'. His singing is very often cabaret but this is intentional. He has not done this to make a career in the singing industry. It’s sung to be funny and this is the only aim. There are some great classics on here. The always recognizable 'Way To Amarillo' features. A song that has become a legend ... A jug of Somerset's finest Advantages: Almost the perfect party album Disadvantages: one poor track. The previous reviewer suggests you have to be from Somerset to really appreciate the Wurzels... I'd beg to differ. As far as I'm concerned, all you need is a healthy sense of humour, and an open mind when it comes to your music! This album is huge fun, and although the selection of songs are now a few years old (album was released in 2002) it still sounds great. The musicianship is first class as you would expect from guys who've been playing for ... ...ready - but then you would sound like that after a lifetime of drinking proper west country scrumpy!
