Okay here it is, I'm tired of hiding my love for Lionel Richie songs, this man is great!!!!
Lionel Richie first found fame in the band called The Commodores during the Seventies and the group were signed by the famous Motown. He also writes for several artist so is respected in the industry.
I purchased a cd of Lionel's a few years ago beacuse I wanted some of the classics you all must of heard of - 'Hello' 'Three Times a Lady' 'Easy' the list can go on, I played it endlessly. His husky soulfull tones are so romantic and sultry, really relaxing music. He also does some wonderful upbeat tunes too for example 'Destiny' and 'Dancing on the Ceiling'
A good friend of mine then gave me tickets to see him live - wow! The man is an incredible live singer, he looks like every song is no effort at all. He hits every note precisely and puts on a really entertaining show. A artist that a lot of young musicians can learn a lot about live singing from.

Album Notes
Lionel Richie's career since his superstar heyday in the early 1980s has been spotty, marked by long silences and lackluster releases. The year 2006's aptly titled COMING HOME finds Richie delivering the one-two punch of uptempo commercial dance-pop and the sentimental love ballads for which he's known. Interestingly, Richie sounds less like an adult-contemporary artist on COMING HOME than ever before, thanks in large part to producer Antonio "L.A." Reid, and high-profile beatmakers like Jermaine Dupri and Raphael Saadiq. The results are surprisingly au courant (check the island-infused club track "Up All Night"), with dashes of new jack swing, hip-hop, and neo-soul, but Richie's old magic with a melody still takes center stage.
Album Reviews
Entertainment Weekly (p.77) - "Richie's silky voice glides through tracks like the throbbing, bongo-laden house workout 'All Around the World' and the blippy R&B single 'I Call It Love'..." Vibe (p.138) - "He sounds most at home here flaunting his noblesse oblige, as on the suave, yet stolid 'Why'..."
