A good review. Thought some of the comments were a bit unfair. Some of the terminology (redneck as you describe) used by Alan Jackson is not unique to him. Still, a lot of the comments were fair ones although as a fan of the above mentioned I would rate this as a country album quite highly. You can't please everyone. |

Two reasons for the lower rating. The first is easy to fix since I think you missed adding where you can buy this and how much we could expect to pay for it. The second is a bit more difficult. On a personal level, I'm getting a bit bored with the track-by-track descriptions, not your fault - just my own thing, and I won't necessarily rate down just because of that. I can still find reviews like that VH if they delve more into the sound of the songs - type of beat, what mood the song evokes through the music (which isn't really the same as the story of the song - many C&W songs have upbeat sounding music when they words convey disasterous stories!), how the background vocals, what types of instruments are used, etc. That takes a bit more of an effort. An E review would also tell us how the overall CD is compiled as a collection of songs, if their order on the disk is done well, and if the quality of the collection is consistant, and any information about the booklet that comes with it that might be interesting (if there is one). Still, a good review. |
