Having read and enjoyed all of the Grant County series previously, I had very high expectations of this book.
Skin Privilege has a similar structure to the other books in the series, and focuses on one particular case, which turns out to be more complicated than it first seems. It takes place mostly outside of Grant County, with the three main characters (Jeffrey, Sara and Lena) all being based in Lena's hometown of Reece.
Karin Slaughter continues to develop the characters fantastically, and her writing gives a real sense of closeness to the people, and their relationship to one another. Personally, I have never liked Lena, but this book really shows a different side to her which made her chapters a lot more exciting and interesting to read, whereas previously I would only skim through her chapters.
