in its entirety on The Complete Riverside Recordings) followed by some similarly stellar outings on Verve (collected on the mammoth 18-CD Complete Bill Evans on Verve), it's understandable that the pianist's work from the 1970s might get short shrift. Understandable, but not justified, as this nine-CD set illustrates. Evans's years at Fantasy brought forth some monuments, including his first session of duets with Tony Bennett. His solo and trio work continues to develop over the course of these sessions, all of them corrected for chronology, ignoring earlier albums' track orders. His group playing also shows development, intensified refinement, and an acute collective sense that seems to grow and absorb whoever is on the gig. Tenor saxophonist Harold Land makes a fine showing, as does the underrated, dynamic duo of Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh. Sure, Evans makes the ill-considered stumble of trying to get a Fender Rhodes to reflect his sense of touch and phrasing, but he shows again and again why he is so magnificent a composer, improviser, and group-leading thinker. As he neared his death in 1980, his flow of ideas seems--at least in hindsight--irrepressible, and for that reason, fascinating. --Andrew Bartlett

Advantages: Some excellent, talented staff. Latest styles and techniques Disadvantages: Staff often in England just for a year or two. Appointments too short.
(Okay, so this was meant to be a response to "Conveyor belt hair dressing" but I exceeded the word-limit so I am instead posting in a new thread for all to see.)
It's not Toni & Guy salons that are at fault here - it's the individual colourist. You'll get good and bad colourists in any salon.
I used to work as a senior technician (colourist) at Toni & Guy and whilst I do have my criticisms of the company I feel it's unfair to assume that problems such as this apply to all Toni & Guy staff.
This stripey effect is something I saw a lot of regardless of where the colour was done. It is often laziness on the part of the colourist in colouring over the midlengths instead of just the regrowth. But there are a few things you can do yourself to minimise this, which is why I'm responding:
1. Keep to the same colourist. A different ...

Up until a few years ago I struggled to find clothing for my larger than average frame, but as I still consider myself relatively young, I wanted clothing that was still fashionable without looking like Pat Evans from Eastenders, although do you not think her earrings are pure class?? What do you mean no?
Well for those girls and ladies out there that don’t fit into the normal clothing ranges in most fashion shops, which is just about a size 14-16, you should pop into your nearest Evans, a ladies clothing store that specialises in clothing larger ladies from head to toe and just happens to cater for most tastes, even the most choosy of teenagers will struggle not to leave with a purchase in tow.
Most of their clothing range is available is sizes 16 up to size 30 however a small selection of clothing is available from size 14 ...

at reception. There booking system is run by computer, so all they need on your next visit is name and they can tell you, who you saw on your last visit, and what you had done. Very good idea if you have your hair coloured as it is recorded.
After you have checked in so to speak, you will be asked to take a seat on their lovely comfy sofa, which a choice of magazine?s, and also you have televisions around the salon, playing a Toni & Guy video, along with music playing in the back ground.
In the waiting area you will also find a nice cold water machine.
Ok once your hairdresser is ready for you, he or she will come over to introduce he?s or her self. Offer to take your coat, and place a gown around you, to protect your clothes.
They will then sit you down at there station, and ask for what style you are looking for, they are there to help ...
