Disadvantages: Impossible to match this standard again in future

...clear assignment: absolute dedication! Her songs tell stories about life, human behavior, contacts, dreams and visions. “Venus as a boy” from the Debut album became Bjork’s first international hit. Especially her musical style proofed to reach new land with atmospheric sounds, mystical elements and rough background effects. In 1995 then, Bjork released her second album and it became clearer that she was still on the search, the style was everything but perfect, the compositions still a bit woodenly and her texts started drifting a bit, away from the more down-to-earth approach of the Debut lyrics. Her new texts metaphored a lot too. Very obviously she started to get rid of all clichés that had been implemented to her by the media, especially as an influence of the Sugarcubes time and because of here heritage. MTV released... Advantages: The beatles at their best
Disadvantages: Nothing else will be this good

...to the album, as it shows which direction the band would eventually take the music scene next. With this album the band had taken jangly guitar pop to its logical extreme. From here on the would investigate psychedelia with the "Sergeant Pepper's..." album before moving onto rock (The "White Album"). Revolver is probably not as well known as "Sergeant Pepper's..." because that was the album that introduced the world to the psychdelic experience. Revolver could be considered as laying the foundations for what was to come, but it is an important album in its own right. I suppose it could be considered as the world's first proper studio album, and it finds the band at their best: willing to experiment and always looking to create new sounds. Advantages: Good insight into the band
Disadvantages: Too many short snippits here and there

...Fransisco where they find their own album in a recycled CD shop!! During a radio interview in Las Vegas, Daniel begins to play an acoustic version of ‘Tomorrow’ but unfortunately we only get to hear the opening line of the song before we’re taken off to them building up for their next gig and performing ‘Spawn Again’ and ‘Satin Sheets’. ‘Emotion Pictures’ is an excellent but all too brief display of Silverchair. The 4 videos for their single releases (also including ‘Ana’s Song (Open Fire)’ and ‘Miss You Love’) are good to see but I can’t help thinking it could have included more of the studio work, live performances and Daniel chatting instead of short snippits here and there. Despite this, the video is still well worth a look for any Silverchair fan... Read review
