Advantages: Still the most beautiful city in the US Disadvantages: Hurricane Katrina
Reading the other site reviews, it seems like all of them were probably written before Hurricane Katrina did its job on NewOrleans. I've been back there several times since the storm, and have a few thoughts.
I myself am an expatriate New Orleanian. Born and raised there, I've lived away for several decades, but still have ties and visit occasionally. As it happened, one of those visits was on the weekend before Hurricane Katrina hit. I've been back three times since then, and have seen the city slowly put itself back together.
There's no sugar coating it: Katrina did a number on the city. The house I grew up in was lucky: it was on the edge of the flood zone (which covered nearly the entire city, except for the older parts of town hugging the Mississippi River), and so only (only!) had four feet (1.3 meters) of flooding ...

Advantages: Friendly people, relaxed atmosphere. Be prepared to party, and party hard! Disadvantages: Keep away from the tacky and overpriced tourist area.
My visit to NewOrleans was pretty atypical, myself and a friend hired an aircraft and flew ourselves there from Georgia. For any pilots reading this, the trip was a good one, flying IFR and using Houston Centre for Flight Following and a Radar Service. being typically American aviation, the service was excellent and efficient, and despite being two semi-lost Brits in a single engined aircraft we never had the feeling that they were giving us anything but their friendly, polite best.
NewOrleans Lake Front Airfield is a controlled airfield about eight miles out from the city centre and has two parallel runways that extend into the Mississippi, undershoot and you're swimming. The facilities were good, offering cheap Avgas and a courtesey car, (Which had been commandeered by the time we go there!), tie down cost 20 dollars, but that was ...

Advantages: Great for kids age 9-12 , easy to read , organised Disadvantages: simple for above aged 12
After been a major fan of shout and not read it for a couple of years , I decided to see if I'd missed much! It was their new make over which grabbed my attention! I thought it looked quite childish but thought i'd buy it anyway.
Although this magazine is aimed at 9-14 year olds , i would not reccommend a 14 year old to read it as it's rather childish. For example it covers about 4 pages just comparing celebs as to how alike they are.
Each month a celeb is placed on the cover , then their interview is shown in the magazine,
There are adverts in the magazine aimed at teenagers for example : Always , Tampax and new tv shows.
It has gossip pages about stars that teenagers would like such as paris hilton , scarlett johanson and Jessica Alba.
Shout lets it's readers take part in the magazine by printing their embarrassing moments and real ...

Album Notes
This set features some of Joe "King" Oliver's later 1930 recordings for the Victor Talking Machine Company. Though in the early '20s Oliver had employed artists of the caliber of the trumpeter Louis Armstrong and the clarinetist and saxophonist Johnny Dodds, by the turn of the decade these performers were long gone, and the bandleader was suffering from a painful gum disease which made stand-ins necessary for most of his solos. However, his acumen in choosing talented musicians is still very much apparent in the performances of such figures as the pianist James P. Johnson and the trumpeters Bubber Miley and Henry "Red" Allen. Highlights include the classic "St. James Infirmary" and a spirited version of "Frankie and Johnny."
