Album Notes: Despite its billing as a Johnny Cash concert, this 1976 recording from Tennessee State Prison includes performances from country music picker Roy Clark, Linda Ronstadt, and comic drunk Foster Brooks. Cash performs seven songs, one of which is the rarely heard "Jacob Green," about a prison suicide, which strongly reaffirms his reputation as a prisoners' advocate, as well as his first Sun Records single, "Hey Porter," and Shel Silverstein's hit song about gender confusion, "A Boy Named Sue."
...The first cd in this double collection is JohnnyCash At Folsom Prison.
It was recorded in 1968 (well before i was born). This was the time of Presidential Abdication, The Vietnam War and the continuing Civil Rights struggle. It was also the same year Mr. JohnnyCash married Miss June Carter, his saviour. This cd really opened my eyes to what life was like "back in the day". Advantages: Classic , fresh , raw , entertaining , a little piece of history . Disadvantages: May be too dated for some .
...along with the man .
When we were young we used to joke that ‘JohnnyCash played guitar with a boxing glove on one hand ‘ However that is really unfair and does the man no justice . His distinctive style , whilst not classical or great in the traditional way , is his own style . Couple this with his somewhat sad and mournful voice and you would know it was him anywhere . His genre is Country .

Now, if this doesn't seem like enough JohnnyCash fun for you, there is also a 72 page display book, which contains many rare and unseen photographs, of the man himself, his family, loved ones, and friends. These many photos also include shots from when he performed live at Folsom Prison (which tends to be known as his most famous performance, and live album). The display book also includes a small amount of song information for each song, the song lyrics for the song "Man In Black", a letter from JohnnyCash and June Carter Cash (his second wife), and credits from the producer. For those of you who aren't aware of who JohnnyCash is, he was a vastly influential...
