DIV's second album marks a move away from the at times oppressive sonic assault towards a more tuneful style. DIV are a heady mix of styles, they incorporate the hypnotic repetition of can, the edgy riffs and experimentalism of the Velvet Underground and even the populist organ licks of northern soul. Lacking a frontman, DIV have opted for guest vocalists on this album. There are some great star turns, Bobby Gillespie's blissed out political diatribe on "Soul Auctioneer", William Reed's sinister growl on "Twisted little sister" and most notably a fine performance from the fantastic Iggy Pop as a misunderstood serial killer on "Aisha". Genius!
