Taraf de Haidouks - Band of Gypsies

Advantages: Fast, lively, talented, rare sounds
Disadvantages: None that I can think of except it might be difficult to understand lyrics

on this masterpiece. Apart from the aforementioned songs, there are also a collection of live songs taken from a concert in Bucharest, which was actually their first ever, which was quite astonishing to say they were fairly popular outside of their own country at that time. Each song is a lively example of hidden gems that had remained previously unplayed. Taraf de Haidouks really are the best gypsy musicians in my opinion and if you are looking to get into gypsy music or simply enjoy listening to uber-talented musicians, this album is a must. The event was also captured by a french filmmaker in a DVD of the same name. This is also worth watching out for as are several of the other albums which I'm about to review! ...

Our large, four bedroom house is over 200 years old and therefore has no cavity walls to insulate. After a cold and damp 2008 summer we were suffering from condensation and mould problems in spite of extractor fans in both kitchen and bathroom. Time to dehumidify! We bought our DEM 10 at Curry's for £99.99. It is compact, easily moved with a fold-out top carry handle and absolutely idiot proof in use. The level of humidity that the unit will pull down to can be controlled via a knob on top of the housing and there is a full tank warning light. The water tank is transparent so that the water level can be seen at a glance and the tank is so easy to remove for emptying - and, more importantly, to replace. Try some of the competition! A length of polythene hose is supplied to enable continuous draining should you want to leave the unit ...

The continuing history of Cochadebajo de los Gatos

Advantages: humoourous, imaginative and superbly written
Disadvantages: slightly dark humour may not appeal to all

the unsuspecting populace to root out heresies and unbelievers. The citizens of Cochadebajo de los Gatos continue to establish their idyllic neo-civilisation in the mountains, the ex-whores, ex-guerillas, de-frocked priest and giant black cats living their lives apart from the rest of the country. They entertain the British Ambassador, bring down a helicopter and finally come to a spectacular confrontation with the Inquisition. I loved this book as much as Don Emmanuel and Captain Corelli, Louis de Berniers writing style is wonderful, his sense of humour is perverse and slightly black but very entertaining. The characters introduced in Don Emmanuel are here enlarged upon and we grow to love them even more, along with the new friends we meet.
